Da Count-Da Kid

Eighteen years ago I spent 5 weeks on bed rest before 2 days of labor to bring you into the world. You made me a mother and rooted me to the earth. How strange and wonderful it all was...not to mention exhausting.

You're the big sister who can be sweet (or not so sweet, I guess that makes you normal.)

You've always had self-confidence and a style all your own.

I love you even when you're scowling.

You've always had spunk and sass in surplus.

Happy birthday, kiddo. What a journey it has been so far.

Happy birthday to the young Limelet! The hair in the band photo is outrageously fun. I hope it's a wonderful day of celebration for her.

  4. You know I have to say it. Not that I think you look old now but my do you look young in that hospital photo. I bet the kids have added at least a few of those grey hairs you sport now.

She is her own self. That is a good thing most of the time. Nice collection of photos. And happy birthday to Diana.

  12. Happy Birthday, Kid! Redheads are special and the best! I know - I used to be one (don't worry, I don't think there's any chance you'll end up looking like me.)

And you, Lime. You were an especially attractive and radiant mother. Very pretty.

  18. So, how does it feel to be the mother of an 18 yr. old? I'm wondering if it freaked you out as much it did for me.

  20. You are such a fabulous Mom - posting wonderful pics and such a neat tribute to your daughter. I absolutely love the picture of you (new Mom) holding new baby.... my you look so very young. Thanks for bringing in those neat memories. Oh, and my Great Grandma had carrot red hair, as do a passel of my nephews and my niece... might fine. Hope the birthday was memorable :)

  25. Okay, she's freakin' me out in those red heels. Go back in time, honey: don't grow up quite so much yet.

I want to pet you in that first photo, btw.

  26. Make certain she always has a pair of those shoes. That way she can click the heels three times and get back home to you.
