Earlier this week I posted about a song that had a special memory,
Leader of the Band by Dan Fogelberg. It was released shortly after my artist/musician grandfather died. I later inherited his Gibson guitar. When I did the earlier post I got to thinking how much he would love HNT. No, not because he was a dirty old man, but because he was an artist and had an appreciation for self expression and the human form. My musical skill will never equal his, but I thought I'd give an attempt at an artistic HNT submission.

If you need to know how to submit your own exhibit click on the HNT link in the sidebar.
Happy HNT everyone!
Oddly enough, today is my other
grandfather's birthday. He'd probably turn in his grave to know I was participating in HNT..........Sorry, Pop!

Fantastic pic. I really love it.
ReplyDeleteAnd the story is sweet. Leader Of The Band really is a great song, too.
The leader of the band is tired
ReplyDeleteAnd his eyes are growing old
But his blood runs through
My instrument
And his song is in my soul --
My life has been a poor attempt
To imitate the man
I’m just a living legacy
To the leader of the band.
I haven't heard that song in years. I just got a bit ferklempt...
From an artistic perspective, you hit it right on the money. Well, at least, in this artist's eyes you did. I think it's a great tribute. Truthfully, this is a classic photo. Something you might expect to find in one of those magazines devoted to music or something. Well done.

subtle, classy and sexy as hell!!
Understandable why musicians name their guitars after women!
Damn... This is such a WONDERFUL shot Lime...
ReplyDeleteI would honestly have it printed out and hanging in a gallery. This is just beautiful.
Happy HNT doesn't quite express the appreciation.
It is my mother's bday today too, she has a conniption each time she thinks about HNT & my participation. haha Yes, she knows...ack!
A very artistic tribute
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo.
H HNT
Very creative/artistic, i so couldn't have thought of a better tribute to your grandfather.
ReplyDeleteH HNT
Firstly, beautiful picture! Nice job and that's a lovely guitar. I should know! Methinks Pop would approve. YOU're a very attractive woman and your posts are always very tasteful. This one is particularly artistic. Rock on! HHNT!
ReplyDeleteMy God! but that is an awesome photo. Happy HNT!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very cool photo, Lime. I like the suggestive differences between your body and the guitar. I like the hint of motion in your face and hair. The lighting and framing are just right. And that looks like a classic old Gibson or Epiphone. All around nice image. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAlso, don't worry whether you play like your grandfather could -- from earlier photos it looks as though he had 30-40 years more practice than you. If you play for yourself then when you reach his age you'll... have had years and years of enjoyment no matter what.
Take care,
figleaf
VERY cool pic. HHNT!
ReplyDeleteBeing a musician myself...I can totally appreciate that photo. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful photo Lime! It's so cool that you have something with that much meaning to remember your grandfather by.

ReplyDeleteWhat a sexy pic! A good body and a beautiful guitar. There's the good life there.
ReplyDeleteI think you've already heard me say how much I love Gibsons. Now, if only I had $2200 to spend on a Les Paul. That would be cool.
Simply wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHappy HNT.
I can almost hear the music.
ReplyDeletegreat story about your Gramp. Love the guitar and very artistic shot.
ReplyDeleteHappy HNT
That is a gorgeous photo. Love the curves in your arms and in the guitar.
ReplyDeleteLime, how we remember and celebrate people we love is unique. How you have done it this way is so very special. Not only have you taken a family treasure and the memory of your Grandfather, but you have also given us an artistic expression that captures your beauty with a classic musical instrument. If you are a musician, you can instantly see the value of the guitar. If you are a photographer you can instanly see the honesty in the photo.
ReplyDeleteHonesty in photography is hard for many people to capture. You have captured it very well. Great work. Very authentic.
Wonderful photo. Happy belated HNT!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture...tastefully done and indeed very artistic. I like it.
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt, this is going on the sleeve of the single :-)
ReplyDeleteI mean it, in a way. When I publish the results, this will be prominently displayed. That way, those who don't dig the music can enjoy the eye candy!
