A Word of Advice

If you happen to deposit checks from your health insurance company totalling almost $3000 dollars to pay for Occupational Therapy services and then you happen to write a personal check for the same amount to the organization providing OT services...

It's a REALLY good idea to make sure you put the deposit in your CHECKING account, not your SAVINGS account (amazing how forgetting one letter in your account number sequence can screw that up).

Husbands get a little teeny bit distressed when you make that mistake and have a bunch of other charges come back on you for 'insufficient funds.' (Honey, your BP is 200/110, and that vein on your forehead is looking REALLY huge, and um...is that smoke pouring out of your ears? Why are you shaking like that and foaming at the mouth?)

All reasonable offers of safe haven will be considered.

Oh my! I hope your bank isn't like mine and immediately charges you an insanely high interest rate and fee. But it made me learn my lesson, it will not happen again. I simply cannot afford it.

Come on everyone, let's road trip to Michelle's house! Maybe we can distract your husband and make him forget something silly like money in a bank account to cover checks...

PS...Yell at the BANK! It's their fault. I have had my money at Credit Unions over the years and I find them much nicer. I did the savings/checking oopsie once and the credit union transferred the money for me,covered the checks and called me...Customer service!

  6. Having been a vault teller at a prestigious S & L for two years, I am forever damaged and expect only the highest standards of financial management from my colleagues.
This sort of irresponsible behavior shall not be tolerated!

Let's celebrate! It was worth watching the vein bulge!

    :P

  12. I have done that once before while depositing through an ATM. But I realized right away, and I hadn't written any $3,000 checks. So I guess it's not exactly the same thing..

I made a deposit once through an ATM and the envelope slipped in a wierd slot and ended up inside the machine ... like in the mechanical part ... lost for about four or five days ... while checks were coming in. Luckily the bank found it (finally) and vouched for all the rubber ones and apologized. I was scared shitless there for a while. You can come crash here babe. I'll scoot over.

  22. How bad could it be you are here telling us LOL
    Mistakes happen.
Now trying to explain to the wife where you got the $11,800 you deposited in the bank is another matter, especially when you didnt put it there.

  23. Oops!
Over here, it's very unusual to find people with a cheque account. With the spread of EFTPOS, including some little wireless units, you just need your ATM card.

  25. Oh ya, been there done that.....

My idiot bank closed one account, opened another (that's how they lowered my line of credit limit when I asked them to).

Result--the paycheques that were deposited into it were returned. For two months.

Yeppir. No pay for two months.

    Brilliant.
