Da Count-Aaaaaaaack!

I haven't done this in 19 years. Today I have a phone interview for a job. About a month ago I dropped of a resume, cover letter, and list of references for a library assistant job. That act alone made me feel like throwing up. I've called several times since then and kept being told the resume review process is taking a long time. As time dragged on I thought I had little chance of ever being called. How good could I possibly look on paper since I have been an at home mom for the last 18 years? Every other applicant will have more experience than me. Yesterday, I got called so they could schedule me for a phone interview today. AAAIIIIIEEEEEEE!!!!!! I'm a bundle of nerves. Whether I get the job or not I am counting that at least I look good enough on paper to call for an interview.

Any prayers, positive thoughts, or good mojo you want to send my way at 1:45 PM EST will be most appreciated. Whatever the outcome I just want to do my best.

Now if you'll excuse me I need to go try not to vomit.

  1. Prayer will be said as soon as I post this. Best of luck! If they have any brains whatsoever, you'll get the job. Don't sweat it.

  2. You guys aren't on Daylight Savings Time? ;)

Will do with the prayers, Lime.

You're good enough, you're smart enough, and doggone it, people like you!

  4. Oh crap! I just gave away the last of my mojo twenty minutes ago.

Don't worry about it, Lime. As a homemaker, you have been doing lots of things all day, and when other people get to clock out and go home, you're always wife and mother. As long as you haven't eaten any of your children, you'll do just fine.

I'll pray for you anyway. Not 'cause you need it, but just 'cause I like ya.

  7. Oh I do hope you get this! With your artistic knack and wordsmithing... and 18 years of sharing books with kids... you would be a wonderful addition to that library!
Prayers and good vibes on the way... and maybe a bit of library mojo from this old librarian too!

    Best of luck Lime.

  10. First of all Suze, I do NOT hurl!!
Although I do indeed hate puke, and all talk of puke.
And Lime is one of the few people on the planet that I would hold her hair back for her as she ralphed, so she wouldn't get her lovely tresses all gobbered up.
    Good Luck Meesh...xo

  15. Remember, if you can't think of a good answer always reform it back to them in the form of another question..."Why do YOU think I should be qualified for this job?"

  16. Rats -blogger hasn't eaten my comment for a long time - until today grrrr.

What a great job for you - I see you as a perfect fit. I also can relate to the throwing up feeling about the interview process - I've had two in the past week and it is unnerving to say the least. No call backs though :(

Good luck - I hope you get the job xo

  17. As I have been "retired" from the job market for 20 years now, I SO feel your angst.

    SO? It's 3:13 now... What's the verdict?

  18. I am afraid to even ask this... but is this the sort of deal where you have to wait for them to finish more interviews, then maybe do one in person and wait again before they get back to you? I find that so unnerving! Just remember that waiting can be a good sign that they still consider you in the running. :-)

  21. No need to be nervous... If they are calling and asking for an interview... they already want you... so don't give them a reason not too!!!

  28. Wishing you the best luck for that. I love how you did it "old school style". actually dropping off a resume and cover letter. and NOT using the internet like so may lazy job seekers.
