Friday 55-July

Do you remember
how our eyes met 
that day,
measuring your hand
against mine,
 my smile 
when I tasted the cake 
in your kiss,
sharing the blanket 
under the trees,
 rocking gently
as we embraced,
steadying me 
against your chest
when pleasure 
overwhelmed me?
Do you remember
the taste 
of desire
on a summer 
afternoon?

    Y'know something? We think of haiku as that 5-7-5 form but, as I understand it, to the Japanese we're totally missing the point.

    The point is a good haiku needs to have a shift of consciousness that captures the essence of a moment, somehow. That's their aesthetic.

    Your 55s do that a lot. Very nice.
