I was fine
until someone asked.
Cracks formed in the dam,
threatening a torrent of tears.
I reinforced the walls.
I was fine
until the next person asked.
I tried to wave her off,
but she drew me in,
closed the door,
held me close.
The flood of tears
was no match for her shoulder.
I got one for you right here, if you ever need it. . . You know I do. . .
ReplyDeleteGrrrrrrr......
ReplyDeleteYou have had an emotional week thats for sure Trini.
Loved your 55.
Thanks for taking the time to play.
Have a Kick Ass Week-End...G
Although I don't know the reason for your sadness,
ReplyDeleteyour poem was beautiful. I could understand and relate to every line.
yeah...i know this one...it was probably the best thing that could have happened...a good cry.
ReplyDeleteMay you always have a hug when you need it.
ReplyDeletePeople always willing to give a hug. :(
ReplyDeleteCry all you can. Sometimes we need tears to flow...
ReplyDelete((HUGS))
Some days require a good cry and bigger hugs. I hope for better, sunnier days inside and out for you
ReplyDeletebig hugs from the moon
This is so beautiful and the sentiment is quite familiar. May you always have a shoulder to cry on when you need one.
ReplyDelete"I was fine until someone asked"
ReplyDeleteI loved this line! Very grabbing.
Without Words is my 55 this week.
Sometimes you need someone to grab you and hug you and give you 'permission' to let it out. Good friend you've got there - big time.
ReplyDeletelove the way you showcase your sentiments,
ReplyDeletevery creative and pro work on 55.
Happy Weekend.
Blessings for you.
Been there. Hugs are healing.
ReplyDeleteIt's a real blessing to have some comforting arms when everything is spinning out of control. Those tears can be cathartic.
ReplyDeleteSad, but lovely 55.
Nothing like a good cry and a sincere hug from a good friend. Hope it helped. I don't know what I would do without the hugs I get. XX
ReplyDeleteI can relate to this....
ReplyDeletelined up...
I am too ticklish to cry when someone grabs me. Sheesh, that would be awkward.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if they just use a turkey feather and cleanse your aura, you could avoid the tears. Don't they offer that service at your wellness center?
But then, sometimes you may just need to cry. I'm glad you had someone there for you. Have a slamming weekend!
Let it all out! A good weep cleans the eyeballs as well as the heart.
ReplyDeleteI've been there. Beautifully written.
ReplyDeleteIt's that line about being okay till someone asks that I really felt--that brings on the tears, and when someone says "Go ahead, it's okay to cry" that stops them like a brick wall for me--but a hug doesn't have to say anything, just be what it is.
ReplyDeleteGreat 55--I always love coming here.
Your 55 almost unleashed my held back tears. They are always there, under the surface. I've been going through so much since my job loss in massive budget cuts- 21 years as a forensic nurse with San Francisco! At 64-1/2, with a mobiity disability, there was no more work for me. I loved my job and never wanted it to end.
ReplyDeleteMy 55 is at:

ReplyDelete(((Big Hug)))
ReplyDeleteoh thats really good
ReplyDeleteangst is so good for poetry
It's always good to have someone to hug. I hope things will be looking up for you from now on, but that you'll always have a shoulder available to cry on, just in case. Mine's far away, but it's here if you need it. :)
ReplyDeleteOh maaaaaaaaaaaannn..this is so relatable! It all seems okay till someone asks... and then, after that, everything just becomes uncontrollable!! sheeesshh!!
ReplyDeleteAn excellent 55, my friend.. too close to heart..
