Friday 55-Snow More!/Da Count-Snow Less!

FRIDAY 55

The thermometer hit 70 degrees.
I threw open the windows.
I rejoiced to hear the spring peepers.
I went without a coat.
The equinox arrived...

And left quickly.

The mercury plummeted.
I cranked the heat back up.
I'm pretty sure the frogs froze to death.
I reached for my scarf and mittens.

It's snowing...
AGAIN!

DA COUNT

I really was overjoyed when Spring began to hit at it's arrival but it was a mere tease 2 weeks ago.  Winter reared its ugly head again.  March came in like a lion and was determined to go roaring out the same way.  As I write this post it's snowing with predictions of 5-10 inches.  I am less than thrilled.  Yes, this all sounds more like a lament than a count.  I'm going to count that it's April...in the northern hemisphere.  That has to mean something, right?  Spring has to return soon, doesn't it?  It's April...it's going to be warm soon...

  1. 5-10 inches? Yowtch!

We've been cold - didn't get above 40 again till yesterday. But no snow, thankfully. I've actually been out on my bike a few times; definitely wool socks, long-johns and a hoodie. . .

  5. Rumor has it that I should leave the studded tires on for another week. Sigh. Didn't the groundhog refrain from seeing his shadow or something?

  9. Winter one day, spring the next and back to winter after that?

Got to love that climate change craziness. I'm almost willing to bet summer will be a bad one.

  12. Frickin' snow last night here. I refuse to shovel any more snow. It can sit there until it melts. Screw it.

  15. We've had sun maybe three days in a row and it's great though I know we'll likely get rain and hail again in April.

    It's coming. It is.

  21. Oh no!!!! I'm so sorry. We were supposed to get snow here today too, but so far there is nothing. However, the highest our temps have gotten all March was about 42 degrees. Boo.
    Where the hell is spring???

  23. Heh, heh. Well, at least you found some petic inspiration in it.

As Sul said, snow in our neck of the woods too. No 5-10 in, maybe 2 for me and, as with Suldog, I let it alone.

    It's gone now.

Warm is, I believe, a state of mind. My wife is of the camp that believes 50 degrees is cold in spring but warm in winter. I think it's just 50 degrees, whether or not it is seasonable. She has complained that I have all the windows open when it is 68 degrees... warmer by 6-10 degrees than we ever set our thermostat.

Actually, we set it to 65 for certain company, but still...

  24. p.s. "petic" = poetic. Woops.

  25. Ooh, that's sucky. I opened the windows today and just closed them to turn on the heat. But no snow, so I'm grateful.

  26. If you follow our climate Michelle, our spring only seemed to last a couple of weeks last season, then after a bit more bad weather we went into summer, and so far we have had four months of it. It has been great but hot! Its now autumn- Dave

  28. I just drove through ice and slush to arrive at my sister's house in eastern WA.
I'm very glad it is not at my house!

Here's hoping it leaves your house soon and you get SUN SUN SUN!
