We Interupt This Blog...

I had a very exciting post planned for today but a trip to the ER this morning at 6am put the kibosh on that. Isaac woke up unable to breathe and a couple squirts of his inhaler did nothing to improve the matter so off we went. Two breathing treatments, some prednisone and antibiotics and 4 hours later and we are home and feeling somewhat better.

When he was finally feeling some relief he decided to list alternative placements for the pulse ox monitor on his finger. He decided toes and ....'other appendages' would be interesting placements. I suggested that he might not like such a pinchy apparatus on 'other appendages.' He wisely agreed.

He was sent home with orders to watch TV all day. He was heart broken. We were told he could go back to school tomorrow if he is not wheezing too much. He clutched his chest and announced in a pathetic voice and with a gleam in his eye that he was pretty sure he'd still be wheezing tomorrow. At least his sense of humor is undimmed.

Barring disaster, we will return you to your regularly scheduled blog tomorrow.

OUCH, yeah, I would think that experiment in alternate placement would be unpopular.
Hope today goes better!

I am glad you said TOES, I was worried about where he would place it.

Glad it wasnt serious.....

Those attacks can really be scary! You know they're feeling better when they still have their sense of humor.

Here's to better days...

Gets the humor from his Mom, I'm sure. Glad to hear that he is better.

yikes! That's scary..
Used to happen to me when i was a kid all the time.
I think that's why i like sleeping in a cold room.. my father used to put my bed under an open window all the time... even in the winter.. so that i always had fresh air when i slept...

logo, agreed. I am not a guy and that experiment made me wince a bit.

doo dah, he has an unusual way of looking at things.

jillie, when the humor came out i knew he'd be fine.

tl, they said he has either has bronchitis or a perhps a litle pneumonia in one lobe of one lung but he needed antiobiotics for an ear infection that started over the weekend as well. so it's covered. and yes he's feelign a bit better now. thanks.

lecram, claerly, i am sick enough to have found his creative application of a pulse ox monitor quite humorous.

alro, me too. i had very bad asthma and no inhaler (pills only) i can think back to a few times when i really should have been hauled off to the ER and wasn't so i don't screw around with things if the inhaler doesn't do the job.

LOL well as least he remained sensible!
Glad hes doing ok!

Crap. Awful scene. I wish they had those treatments when I was dealing with not being able to breathe. And freaking out to near panic. It just disappeared at about 9 years old. I hope his does. If it's asthma, it might. Poor kid. I used to hang from a tree branch. That seemed to help with less violent attacks.

"Other appendages...?" Sounds like Isaac and Jasper share in "willy" fascinations?

Always exciting moments in the lime household.
Glad to hear he's alright.
He's got a great sense of humor.

No better way to start the week than with an emergency. Sets the tone for the remainder of the week...can only improve, right?!

Make sure he mixes some video games in with the TV. Wouldn't want him to be bored.

Everything gets better from here. LOL.

And, everyone has alternative places.

That must have been frightening.
I'm glad he's feeling better

Oh goodness! I hope he is feeling better! LMAO @ "other appendages", he reminds me of my kids with that sense of humor!

Hope you had a good weekend and thank you for the birthday wishes and the special bath on SWHAB!HUGS!

Oh man! Sure glad he's okay - and having the terrible burden of missing a day (or two) of school. ;)

Must of been really frightening though. I couldn't imagine.

s, i'm relieved too!

gawpo, it is a very scary snesation to not be able to fill yoru lungs. half the trick is controlling the panic response which makes it worse.

charles, i thought all boys had a 'willy' fascination?

tc, yes, his humor is outrageous. once he had the stomach bug and walked down the hallway, bucket in hand hurling as he walked. i got him cleaned up and he pulled a crumpled dixie cup from his pocket and deadpanned the line from wayn'es world. 'if yer gonna spew, spew into this.' i died.

rusty, i shudder to think if it gets WORSE from here on out!

phaedrous, covering my 'alternative spots' protectively now. LOL

cathy, a bit, yes.

breazy, thanks for well-wishes and glad you enjoyed your birthday ;)

bsoholic, school is a sacrifice i think he is willing to make.

I'm sorry he was sentenced to a day of TV, although if you have cable maybe it wasn't too terrible. They know our granddaughter well at the ER, I hope they never get to know your son that well. Why not try the ox other places? Ears? Nose? LOL

Too bad! Having to miss school and watch tv all day. Actually daytime tv is so awful, I hope he read a book instead.

That does sound pretty scary, but he does get a day of television out of it ...

...never have liked asthma much as an ailment... (not that I've had it, it's just when my friends have, it's kind of like getting them to be calm with something awful crawling down their neck...
-glad he's in the pink... (perhaps a second day of television will not be so bad...

-oh yeah, the monitors?
veterinarians put them on the tongues of animals when they're zonked out.. looks sort of odd, but works like a charm...

Poor Isaac and to be ordered to watch TV all day; what a 'punishment'. Hope he feels better soon - give him a big hug from me:-)

amber, it is not my favorite thing to witness, he is doing much better, thanks

apple, fortunately he is not a frequent flyer at the ER

tlp, he was happy to watch movies and ESPN

tim, well that's an appenedage we hadn't considered, thanks!

g-man, no, it was not the best start to a week

tt, *wink

dorky dad, he was not heart broken about that part

lacquer, no, it is not fun to feel liek you have a gorilla sitting on your chest and trying to control the panic response....ugh. and tongues? that sounds pretty funny.

renny, thanks friend!

Uuh, so glad to hear that the worst is behind. We have been seeing TV for the last week... it gets old fast... yesterday, we saw CARS in Hungarian to have a little bit of fun.

Oh my goodness - I'm glad he's feeling better. Holy crap - that's scary.

And a bit funny that he is sure he will be wheezing tomorrow...sounds just like my son!

A knack for the melodramatic in that boy...I'm sure he wove an exciting tale of his ails for his classmates on the return to school
