I ran out time to execute a particular idea for a blog post so today you get some critter pictures from the last couple of weeks or so.
This fellow looks like he is smiling at the camera. Or is it just me? Naw, he's smiling. Must be he likes tie dye (the sheet he's perched on) as much as I do.
This guy is definitely not smiling though. In fact, he looks more than a bit put out by the whole experience. Isaac and I have a long standing tradition from when he was 2 and started catching crickets. When he catches some very cool little critter he brings it to me and I take a picture of him with it before he releases it. It makes me smile that even though he is almost 13 Isaac still rushes in the house to show me what he finds.
I can't tell if this grasshopper is smiling or not. Maybe if I had a good macro lens we could see. Well, that and maybe if the darned hopper would face me instead of mooning me.

So does this mean that Isaac is going to do the old catch, picture and release thing with girlfriends?
How rude of the grasshopper to moon you.
I do believe that said bug does like tie dye. Good for it. I think green is it's color.
Too bad nothing landed on your cleavage!
(Sorry Lime, you may slap me now)
Cool pics gurlie! I found a wee frog in the ice chest Sunday when I was cleaning the deck.... he is now residing in the puppy's pool ~~ I tweaked your grasshopper pic I think he is sneering! Would e-mail it to you but alas I don't have addy- sigh....
That little frog looks like Puerto Rico's coqui.
What a cute little moon shot!
that last shot is beautiful!
Not to One-up Isaac or anything but 'Nature Girl' caught her first cricket before she could walk. In fact she wasn't really even crawling yet. She found herself a 'house cricket' that unwittingly came out from under the couch. 'Nature Girl' wounded soldier style dragged her little body across the room and snatched the cricket up in one fell swoop, man handled the little creature and then lovingly placed it into a little Playskool bus. I guess preparing to send it off on its first day of school?
I watched paralyzed, my face frozen in horror and I've been in that state pretty much, ever since.
I can't help but think that Isaac and Nature Girl would be terrific friends!
Well, of course he's smiling at you. Who wouldn't smile at you?
After closely inspecting the little fella on the tie dye, I believe we have discovered the inspiration for E.T!
I don't want to up Isaac either, but I must tell you about the toad Math brought in to show me (see even in their 40s they have to show you), it only had one eye, are there witches living around here or what!!! Can't believe I didn't take a photo, never mind I'm still smiling:)
I love that last shot. The flower almost looks fake. It is just too pretty and the colors are amazing. Great job!
Cute lil froggie.
Lime, your mooning hopper makes for one gorgeous study in color contrast.
I love it when my kids rush to show me something they've found--and they're young adults now. My daughter came home for the weekend. Friday evening she was all excited about the discoveries being made where she works--at a mind research institute--and yes, it was like she was running into the house with a cool rock or something! I loved it!
I also love your lime-dyed sheet.
hnbw...
instead of HNT it is HNBW...Half Nekkid Bug Wednesday
I can't quite get past G-Man's comment. You have to give the guy some credit.
Ack! Bugs? Awesome colors. For Bugs :)
Cheers Bella!
Great photos!
And haven't you ever heard the rear end referred to as a "permanent vertical smile"?
oh gosh Lime, HOW CUTE
Oooo, critters.
Okay, I just got the heebie jeebies.
yea, slap him Trini!
Lime! I love those creatures of your photos,
But I tell you, these days a swarm of locusts have descended upon where I live & they are gnawing the entire crop away! :(
& at night, if you open the doors, they swarm inside the house!
