Weird New Year

Looking for somethign quirkier than the ball dropping in Times Square? Head to Bethlehem, PA for the New Year's Peep Show. They drop a lit 25 lb fiberglass replica of a marshmallow peep at midnight.
As with Craver Vii, I am a fan of peep wars in the microwave. Jousting is the best, where you outfit each peep with a toothpick and play until one of the expanding peeps pokes the other and deflates him. Big yucks!
Oh I like that! I was reading an Illinois blog where they dropped lights shaped as an ear of corn. Our nearest town is the "Cheese Curd Capitol of the world". I think even I could make a ball of lights look like a freakin' cheese curd. :)
Here in The City of Oaks, they drop a giant bronze acorn I refer to as the "Disco Acorn" because of its ... well I don't really know why.
Pee Wars in the microwave is the most useful thing I can think of to do with them. Seriously. Between those and circus peanuts I'm not sure which is worse.

I just saw this in my feed reader under a listing of other odd drops on NYE, I personally want to see the pot of gumbo drop in 'Nawlins!
Does it break when it hits the floor?
The New Year's Peep Show. . . that is just wonderfully campy. . .
Wow now that is.......verrrrryyyyy interesting!
Peeps...ewww....someone step on it...or at least melt it down....
Happy New Year
Too bad its not a real peep. At 12:05 am on Jan first, there could be a peep eating frenzy in Philly!
Happy New Year Lime!
Okayyyy that's... different. :-)
This past Easter, I introduced my family to microwave peep wars. The Mrs. was not a big fan. I wonder why.
That is truly bizarre.

Everyone have a Happy New Year! Thank the Lord this one is over.
Happy New Year to Lime & Family!
I think peeps are not really food stuff. Hilarious that those folks are lowering one down... man, kind of looks like a golden calf or something.
Wishing you and your beloved ones Joy, Health & Happiness in the New Year.
Happy twenty-oh-nine!
Very cool! Happy New Year sweet Lime girl and thanks for the card. Miss you!
My friend, Cooking With Anne, lives near there. I wonder if she had anything to do with it? She is a fine chef, cook, baker :)
Happiest of all New Years dear one! May all your wishes and dreams come true :)
Now I think I've seen it all lol... happy new year....

Gawd. You do realize I meant to say "peep wars in the microwave", right?
Because ... ew.
Happy New Year!!
I love it!
Too strange. Once it fell, I wonder if it uttered a peep.
