Story Time

Ok, so I don't have any actual ideas today that I have the time to pound out into fully formed posts so let's play a little game. We're going to write a story together. I'll give the opening line and you all will take turns adding to it in your comments. Add as little as a sentence or as much as a paragraph and the next commenter will pick up the story wherever you let off.

Ready? Here goes.

She stood in the heat of the day surveying all before her. Trickles of sweat ran down her neck until a sudden shiver went up her spine...

...it was then that she realized she had left her bag containing her passport and rupees on the bus seat. Turning around to run back to the bus, she saw that it was leaving...

(couldnt resist, it reminded me of something!)

and being followed by a firetruck with bikini-clad babes aiming their rocket launchers...

As soon as the Indian police saw the bikini clad babes, they alerted the army and were off in hot pursuit.

'Am I going mad' she thought, 'Have I stumbled into a Bollywood movie?' She dashed a hand over her eyes to relieve them of the stinging sweat that almost blinded her and collided with a soft, but immovable object.

Hot persuit being the operative word, as the scorching, noonday sun beamed on all their glossy, raven black locks, and made their body temperatures rise even higher as they chased through the dusty streets. Suddenly...

The soft but immovable object was a gaily decorated cow, lazily wandering among the market stalls...

For a moment the cow distracted her, but fear of being trapped without a passport and funds propelled her on her way...

In her haste, she turned suddenly and collided with the most beautiful man she'd ever lay eyes on. He grabbed her arms to steady her. He smiled, not only with his mouth but with his eyes, deep, dark, warm and inviting eyes. "What is it you seek, Oh lovely one?" he said with the most appealing touch of an accent. She realized it wasn't just the heat that made her feel like melting.

S said...

"well, first I seek that bus with my rupees and passport, and then, (giggling), you!"

That's when she noticed the fanny pack with the stripes and realized he was one of those Amazing Race contestants.

Upon further inspection of his body (a task she found not unpleasant) she saw that he had a rather large scar on his right knee. She asked him about it, and he replied...

S said...

"I got that scar while chasing down a taxi for the last TAR contestants that begged me to help themn navigate the chaotic streets of Jaipur. It's nothing, really! Almost everyone in India has some sort of car accident scar."
He patted her hand reassuredly.

*reassuringly

Yet somehow, she did not feel very reassured at all ...

..."My name is Ramachandran Appukuttan Muthhuswamy," he smiled."What is yours?"
"Susie" she replied. It came out from her mouth as a breath of fresh air...

..."nice to meet you," he drawled in the most amazing musical voice she had ever heard.

for a different kind of girl said...

"But you can call me Mike." The sing-song sound of Mike's voice reminded her of the summers she spent at her grandparent's small farm in Indiana and the cicadas would sing her to sleep outside her open window. "What a coincidence," she thought while holding Mike's piercing gaze. "Summers in Indiana...now trapped in India." Susie giggled. "What's so funny?" Mike inquired.

S said...

"You're going to be in last place, and be eliminated if you don't get a move on," Susie said.

Batting his camel eyes, Ramachandran aka Mike said, "being in last place would be worth it now that I have met you, madam, but I have a better idea, why don't you join me in the race since my partner is in the hotel with dysentery?"

"But I have no rupees and no passport", Susie said, shrugging her shoulders.

airplanejayne said...

"Nothing," Susie stammered.
"No, really," plied Mike, "I want to know what made you smile...and blush."
"Umm...well,I use to live in Indiana-"
"Oh! India - Indiana! You say poTAto, I say potahto'"
"You say toMAto, I say toMAHto"
They both started laughing, and laughed even harder when Susie lost her balance, and started to fall.
"Steady," cautioned Mike, gazing into her eyes.
Susie felt something-

It was the slap of reality and dizzying irritation upon being awoken by her cacaphonous alarm clock.

S said...

She wasnt in India, there was no handsome Ramachandran, and her name was not Susie.

"Ick, I am late for work again!" she moaned, rolling out of bed.

Disappointed that the amazing man had only been dream she slowly makes her way to small apartment kitchen and makes coffee. A few minutes later as the sound of dripping coffee could be heard she walks over to her window to see what the day looked like.

Pushing the curtain aside and opening the window she is stunned to see what has to be thousands of people running through the city streets in utter fear. The glare of the morning sun shinning straight into her window make it hard to focus on the movement she sees in the distance. Blocking the glare of the sun with her hand Susie sees what the people are running from and stumbled backward falling to the floor in disbelief.

[LOL @ mona]

It was a giant animated passport followed by huge rupees!

Ananda girl said...

I think that was a perfect conclusion to the story! So I won't add more, but I must say... what a fun, fun post! Kudos Lime!

And then the giant animated passport stomped towards Ananda girl and wrapped her in its firm embrace, muttering, "This story is never over, love, not when there's a you, and there's a me, and there are countries to see."

S said...
