Where My Technological Limits Are Demonstrated Along with a Kitchen Aid

As you know, I was busy on Monday playing hooky with my kid. Several people have asked if the KitchenAid has been christened. Here is evidence of its first run. Diana agreed to work the camera so you can blame her for the fact that I am doing all this sideways. She insisted the video could be flipped. Well, I managed to do that so we can watch it oriented correctly on our computer but YouTube seems to just turn that thing right back on its side. So I am sorry about that. I have no idea how to fix it and it took forever and a day to upload these darned videos anyway. If you wind up with a crick in your neck I know a good chiropractor for those of you in the Boston area. Mercifully, all the videos are under a minute and a half so be brave.

Embee, notice I do a special dance inspired by you in the first clip.

After listening to myself screech over the whir of the mixer I now understand why my kids can't stand to hear me screech. Don't tell them though, ok?

Jocelyn, since you have asked on more than one occasion for me to post the kitchen dancing I actually had the kids take a video of me dancing at the sink as I am wont to do. It was far too disturbing a sight for me to post. Forgive me. Besides, it is sideways. Maybe once I loose 50 pounds, I am not conscious of being captured on video, and I am not sideways....maybe. Instead, I offer a very brief clip of me spreading chocolate on top of the cake, which is far more tantalizing, though it does nothing to help with that necessary weight loss. The bonus is that Diana had resigned her post as videographer so this clip is properly oriented.

I actually was curious to see how you were going to add the sugar and milk so I am glad you filmed that portion!

How about clean up? Can you pop any part of the kitchen aid in the dishwasher or do you wipe it down?

You're the best, Lime! I enjoy you, your family and your pictures/videos so much.

Faxed my wide ass a piece!

I loved the grin as you broke in your new baby... believe me it doesn't wear off! Enjoy your new toy~~~

embee, dance with me now..."i'm making a cake...i'm making a cake..."

mary, i suppose i could throw the bowl in the dishwasher but it says the whisk, dough hook, and paddle attachments would become discolored. i've seen that on other people's parts and i am OCD enough not to want discolored kitchenaid bits.

cocotte, glad they give you a chuckle

furiousball, i'd have to agree with you there

cheesy, well the benefit of faxed baked goods is their lowered caloric content!

Ok I solved the sidways problem by fliping the monitor on it's side, but that just messed up the mouse manipulation.

As for doing things with one hand- I never needed any mechanical help in that dept.

What the hell do you mean lose 50 lbs!?! You are as yummy as that darned cake you "single-handedly" baked.
Cheers.

P.S. If your faxing slices of that confectionary around, I better find some in my neck of the woods.

P.P.S. This was my word veri: sessesy. I am just a little cross eyed from typing it and checking it thrice to make sure it was correct.

Chocolate. On a cake. Mmmmmmmmmmm.

Adding both the milk AND the sugar at the same time? Child, that is sheer and utter recklessness, you one-handed mixer, you!

Btw, I tilted my head to the right. That way, you mixed upside-down. Now we're talking extreme kitchen works!

so technically you were at the concert too ;o))...

Did you enjoy it?

I know whatcha mean about those sideways videos. Once they get made that way, I cannot figure out how to turn em.

Looks like youre going to be making lots of yummy stuff with that new mixer!

Sweetheart, you did a little dance there in the first clip, and that will tide me over until you come do the real thing in my kitchen one day. I LOVE that you're vlogging more! So fun to see the real person in motion.

So the first night I ever met my husband, he announced, "I want to get married one day so I can have a Kitchen Aid." Turns out, I was the one to marry, and a group of our friends gave us one. If it ever breaks, I fear the marriage is over.

Suffice it to say, I get your joy over the new addition to your household. I also cracked up at your daugthers' comments, from "EWWW" to "THIS is the christening?" to "Hold up the other hand now!"

Hee.

You make me want one! (The Kitchen Aid.) I think of my hand mixer as "that evil thing in the junk drawer" and mostly use a wisk... which can wear me out.

What fun. You have a happy home. It shows.

I did indeed! I keep telling my budding chef that if you combine chocolate, sugar and butter even if it doesn't look like the photo in the recipe it is guaranteed to be yummy. Save me from perfectionists!
Cheers

Would you do the "I'm Making Cake Dance" for us in person, the next time you're around Boston? And, can I charge admission? I'm willing to bet we could raise enough for dinner for five at The Pleasant!

nyd, you are too kind, thank you. prepare to receive fax...

jazz, ya can't go wrong, can ya?

craver, your twist of watching me upside down is positively dizzying!

jillie, it was far out, man! you rock!

s, like i said i can watch it properly on my own computer but i can't flip em in youtube

jocelyn, long as i have waited for my very own kitchen aid i would donate it to the cause of keeping you and groomeo together if need be. that's how much i like ya.

ananda, yeah, the whisking thing gets old fast.

maddy, you are a woman of fine taste!

dawn, smart girl ;)

suldog, it's a deal!

Oh, how I want a Kitchen Aid mixer... Also, I never, ever, ever want there to be visual evidence of me dancing in my kitchen, as I so often do, so I completely understand where you're coming from!

I'm just impressed that you are able to do that while suspended horizontally in mid-air!

G-Man said...

You sound EXACTLY like Julia Child!

You cook like her too...

But you look like The most beautiful Kitchen Diva in the world!

The videos rocked! It was great hearing you do the play-by-play. Since I'm using a laptop, the sideways treatment was no problem.

I'm thinking this post gave me an inspiration for a Christmas present. I'll credit you when The Missus thanks me for her new kitchen appliance. (Or, maybe that's not such a good idea.)

(Sorry I'm so late getting here; the network at work blocks the videos, so I don't get to see them 'til I get home :( )

You all are having entirely too much fun there; that much is readily apparent. . . ;)

A Kitchen-Aid, Santana, and chocolate. . . you're right - it doesn't get much better than that. . .

lime said...

fadkog, i'd share my kitchen aid and dance with you but never air the footage

citizen, it required years of dedication to an obscure pennsylvania german martial art form

gman, LOL, i'm not entirely sure how to take the first two statements, but the last one i am loving. and actually i was thinking of naming the mixer "julia" after her.

fred, it is a good idea if the mrs wants one. if she doesn't i don't recommend it

desmond, no need to apologize. all is forgiven if you either dance or help cook. ;)

I don't see any Technological Limits at all!

This is just another proof of that we have to meet in the kitchen one day: Yours or ours? ;-)
