From last Friday until yesterday we had some dear friends visiting us. They have been raising their family in a very large city in Asia. They make it back to the U.S. every other summer and wanted their kids to have the chance to enjoy some country outdoor life while with us. We have some other friends with a lake house who welcomed us all one afternoon.
There was swimming and kayaking, my personal favorite. I enjoy how quiet it is once you get out to the middle of the lake. The weather was perfect too, sunny and warm with a nice breeze but not blistering hot.
There was fishing. Everyone who fished successfully caught several.
Isaac and one of his catches.
Mr. Lime and the catch of the day.
Since we just did catch and release we had hot dogs cooked over our fire pit. Dessert was smores. Mmmm...you know how I feel about them.
The friends with the lake house also have an uber groovy treehouse with a rope walk. I couldn't resist that.
Just in case you think I didn't walk all the way across, here is proof.
A good time was had by all. Our friends were very glad their city kids enjoyed the day outdoors and we all made some nice memories together.

Cottage cravings are a-stirring now. Looks like a perfect day. :)
Nice Bass...hehehehe
What a beautiful day you had! Wish I could have been there to walk that tightrope with you.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time. I've arrived home and will now have a lot of catching up to do! So much to read... so many stories to share!!!
I too am a pebble picker!! :) I've got a whole bowl of rocks from my trip.... including amethyst that we mined ourselves just outside of Thunder Bay in Canada.
Glad all seems well on your home front.

Aaaaaahhhhhh. . .
Thanks for giving me a delightful flashback to our recent week in the Northwoods. And a flash-forward to our upcoming week of Summer Camp. I know exactly what you mean about the quiet in the middle of the lake. Lovely.
I dunno, tho. . . I get nervous when I see you messin' around ropes. . .
And listen. . . Mets? Indians? Next time I need a tie-dye fix, I'm sendin' y'all some Tigers gear. . . ;)
Yeah, yeah, Summer fun. I dig it.
The fishing looks fun, OK.
Lime in a lowcut top, I paused checked the cleavage.
My first view of Mr. Lime- a pretty good catch there Mrs. Lime. (No I ain't ghey)
But the only thing that matters to me in this entire post is Issac's shirt!
BUDDY, YOU ROCK!!!
Oh and the S'more sounded pretty good too.
carib - Now how's that for a word veri?
hilary, i'm not sure you'd ever get me to leave if i were you and had access to that cottage
gman, lol
cocotte, rock on! i knew there had to be some others who would join me
dragonfly, i'm looking forward to reading your stories too
desmond, i put up the vid just to see who would get nervous and who would join me. lol
nyd, i cannot tell you how relieved i am that as a former noo yawkuh you're a mets fan rather than *cough...gasp...hack* a yankees (shudders at the word) fan. as for carib? a truly awesome word veri.
I know I've said it before; we are two of a kind in many ways! This is exactly how I love to spend a day with family and friends; out in the nature, swimming, cajoling, fishing (what great catch - why didn't you fried it on the fire?) and this bonfire - doing the same as we do with our hot dogs with the 'bread' around too!
What could be more recreational and like I've said before; give me whatever amusement park - it can't compete with this!
You're doing well balancing too - how about a career as a ballerina ? ;-)
Okay. Now I have to go fishing today. Tell Mr. Lime that his catch is a beauty! Let him figure out if I mean the fish or you! ha
What a fun time. Just looking at it makes me relax and smile. Thanks for sharing it.
Now waitaminit! No helmet, no elbow pads, no safety line was used while walking across that thing. I don't know........
:P
Glad you had fun. Your son looks incredibly like you.
I'll have to wait 'til I get home tonight to watch the vid, but I'd be happy enough to join you on the rope. It's just that your own recent history with ropes worries me the least bit. . . ;)
WordVer = 'jabless'; I keep telling ya that I'm a lover, not a fighter. . . (an' yeef, it's only one vowel removed from something I'd really rather not think about. . .)
There are few things I like more than barbequed fish although I don't think I'd be brave enough to do anything with it once I'd pulled it up on a line. Looks like a fabulous spot.
Cheers
Ah yes, there's nothing better than a great day outdoors! Awesome that you and your friends and family had such a good time :)
What fun! Looks like you had a fabulous time. :)
You made me nervous on that rope. I didn't want you to fall and hurt yourself. The last thing you need is another injury. ;)
Well would you look at that! Sunshine!!! I don't even remember what that looks like.
That whole idea in my head of having to touch fish was wiped away at the sight of that super cool treehouse! How fun is that!?
Talk about living the good life...fishing, laughing, eating and being with friends...just one ting Lime...I thought your hair was black.
ananda, glad i could give you a smile and thanks for the one you gave me ;)
s, lol, i was waiting for someone to REALLY freakout on me
desmond, eek, i don't much care for that word veri either!
maddy, it was a very peaceful spot
solitaire, it was a terrific day :)
kat, my son was a wee tad nervous too
jazz, hope the sun i shared helped brighten things a bit
moannie, i do have very dark hair but it is increasingly interspersed with white. the sun really caught just how much.
Great pictures of a fantastic trip.
Your son certainly looks like you!! No worries that he was accidentally switched at birth.
I soooo would have needed a rescue team to get me untangled as I dangled from that rope bridge. Grace is not my middle name. More like "walking disaster" It's an American Indian name. I have that in my family.
"Malicious Walking Disaster Intent"
It does not get me a lot of invitations to cook outs. I am also often required to sign insurance policies before swimming or fishing or boating with others.
I am glad you guys had a great time. What a cool rope walk!
