Friday 55-Unsettled

I toss under the covers,
staring at the clock.
An hour passes,
then two,
plaguing thoughts
play on endless loop.
I take my pillow,
find the couch,
stare through the window
at the skeletal trees.
They sway in the wind
while rain pelts the roof.
Sleeps comes.
I wake tangled in the afghan
clutching my pillow.

Aah, the faithful pillow. Sometimes more effective than a counselor, but without any psychobabble. Rest better tonight dear Lime.

Sounds like my night... Except the wake up would come at 4:00 and the tossing part would follow.

Sometimes the couch IS a better place to sleep, that's for sure.
(Especially when you are married to a snorer!)

It happens sometimes! I usually find myself sleeping elsewhere, in the morning, from where I went to bed at night.

Hope things are well with you!

That happens to me, but I don't even bother trying to sleep. I just go get something to eat and read a book!

I hate nights like those. If it is nice, I just get up... but if it is the slightest bit cold... I flop all night where I lay.

Unfortunately I'm plagued by too many of those nights. The rain is always the most welcome noise ~ takes me out of my thoughts and usually brings sleep. Nice 55.

My couch is uncomfortable, but put on some Nature TV show and the announcers voice just lulls me out... :) Sweet Dreams lime!!

I have any number of posts that were written in the middle of the night on a couch, in a chair, all waiting for sleep to come. One I wrote in late July called Tick Clack was totally out of sleep deprivation. Great 55. My 55 is HERE.

We have to but a new couch soon cause my wife, son and I have created depressions in the thing sleeping on it, not all at once though.

Ah, honey, I'm sorry your brain is working overtime...and, more likely, that your heart and emotions are, too.

Your 55 perfectly describes nights I've had many times. They are dark, indeed.
