Just in Case my Nerdiness in in Question...

...this post should remove any doubt.

First, a comic from xkcd.com. I like Venn diagrams. Heck, I know that this thing is called a Venn diagram. Other evidence of my nerdiness: I self classify as a nerd in the intersection (See definition #5 and yes, I know I am violating nerd conduct by referencing urban dictionary rather than the OED. That this concerns me is further evidence of nerdiness.).

Next, I love this video by a bunch of librarians satirizing Lady Gaga's Poker Face. I alternate between laughing and feeling a tingle of organizational delight over the verse mentioning Boolean search parameters.

Finally, I actually took this quiz because I really wanted to know. I happened to find the results both amusing and accurate.

You Are a Question Mark

You seek knowledge and insight in every form possible. You love learning.

And while you know a lot, you don't act like a know it all. You're open to learning you're wrong.

You ask a lot of questions, collect a lot of data, and always dig deep to find out more.

You're naturally curious and inquisitive. You jump to ask a question when the opportunity arises.

Your friends see you as interesting, insightful, and thought provoking.

(But they're not always up for the intense inquisitions that you love!)

You excel in: Higher education

You get along best with: The Comma

What Punctuation Mark Are You?

To further intensify your fears I have procreated and 2 of my nerd spawn voluntarily categorized and labeled the DVD/video collection AND developed a sign out sheet for tracking when one has been borrowed or loaned out. Excuse me, I need to wipe my tears of pride.

Too funny - that video. It seems that you and I would get along well. I came out as a comma.

Oh, dear - I'm a colon. Though much of the description seems to fit, does this mean I'm an a--hole in the end?

It seems to me that the Venn diagram in the 'toon makes no sense. . . How can people in the 'intersection set' (ie, they are both geeks and nerds) be people with strong opinions as to the distinction between geeks and nerds. Or maybe they're just that self-aware, that they can distinguish the geek-part of their own nature from the nerd-part. . . Or are people who ask questions like that just beyond nerd/geekdom?

(*sigh*) I'm just gonna have to wait 'til I get home tonight to follow some of the links. But any song that includes Boolean search parameters in its lyrics is very special, indeed. . .

And hey, I'm a question mark, too! ("Do you love me question mark". . .) ;)

As Hilary is, I am a comma. I am pleased to find that I get along well with you. We should have pizza some time. I know this place in Boston called The Pleasant... :-)

Yikes!

I came away from Venn diagrams for some relief here & suddenly they are staring in my face!

This must be a nightmare :P

Really loved the librarian version! :)

May I borrow your pencil sharpener? My #2 is a little dull.

HA! That video is too funny.

I knew before I even took the test (and I just took it now for laughs) that I am an exclamation point. Dur. Still, can't help but be a little annoyed with myself about it. It makes me feel like a yippy puppy. ;)

Congratulations on your erudite progeny.

Your quiz called me a colon!!

I'm a comma. Of course! I get along best with you.

So, um, yea, you are a geek.

Mostly, I wrote that last sentence so I could use a bunch of commas.

Eh... I'm a colon. I am the smelly canal of... I don't want to think of it.

Why am I picturing a family with pocket protectors?

Loved the video!!!!

lime, you need to apply at schools. The venn convinced me. Even if you do not get into a library at first, you would be killer as an I.A.

As for the quiz... sounds like you to me from everything I have read here.

I saw that library clip over the weekend, and it made me laugh. Someone remarked there that librarians are perhaps the only people who get a master's degree in order to work in a field where they spend a great chunk of their days telling people where the bathroom is and preventing the rest from looking at porn on the computers!

Finally, I'm a colon, which is fitting when you consider what my husband so often tells me I'm full of.

:)

I don't think your nerdiness was ever in question.
