Slice of Lime-Whaddya Got Against Tacos?
Monday of last week I put this box of taco shells and this bottle of seasoning out on the counter along with a note requesting that one of my daughters cook up some ground meat, dice up some tomatoes and lettuce, and shred some cheese so we could have tacos for dinner. Last week I was covering for someone on vacation so I worked late every night. It's Wednesday of this week. The note disappeared long ago but the ingredients remain. No one has seen fit to make tacos. I've come home at 8pm each night and scrounged around for something quick to eat or I've just taken myself out because I'm not putting in a 10 hour day, arriving home at that late hour, THEN cooking when other people have been home all day doing nothing. There are other big people in this house capable of putting together some tacos for all of us to eat. I don't know what they've been eating but the kitchen has been a disaster too. Over the weekend I cooked a couple of nice meals and cleaned up. The relatively easy to make tacos remain unmade. Last night I didn't get home until 9:30. Tonight, more of the same lack of cooking. So if you'll excuse me, I need to go get something to eat. I'm a little hungry.

I'll make tacos for you! Then, perhaps we could share a margarita on the porch and chat for awhile.
You deserve a break! :)
I hope those big people read your blog and get cooking.
I LOVE tacos....they are my favorite food!
:-( it's nice to come home to a meal after a long at at work. Coming home to a box of taco shells and sauce not so much. Draw a sad face on the box and see if they take the hint:-)
Did she eat the note?
If it was me, the tacos would be looong gone ages ago, no instructions needed.
Aw Lime. come to my house, I'll have Mr. Jazz make you come tacos, or enchiladas if you prefer...
Join The club!!
maybe you should move them around the house, like...
1. in a bed
2. on a john
3. in an underwear drawer
4. in a pair of shoes
get the idea?
Have you thought of offering prizes for the first person to make the tacos?
First Prize - A Kick In The Ass For Waiting So Long To Make Them.
Second Prize - TWO Kicks In The Ass.
Etc.
No wonder you wanted a pizza!
Come here, I am going to rub your feet now, poor girl.
Tacos de Pollo chez Sanborn's. Yes pleeaseeeee!.
Shame on your lot. Next meal you make...do it just for yourself and sit and eat it with gusto. Sounds mean but they just might get the message.
Sheeeez! The more you do...etc.
Oh love, kids can be such brats (sadly, this I DO know). Order take-away for one, and be sure to eat every last morsel in front of them!
give them as birthday/xmas presents
make your own meal & let them fix theirs
:(

p.s. I like Suldogs idea.
It's 7:30 p.m., here and we're at a dinner impasse, too. At this rate, I'll head your way and make those tacos because I'm starving!
(except I don't want my ass kicked...)
:)
Maybe your daughters know something you don't?
Well, mo-fo. Like it would be that hard? You totally need to go on a personal kitchen boycott until someone steps up. Screw 'em.
Sorry about the lack of enthusiasm in the house... but I got to tell you... some of these ideas are great!!!
Don't get mad... get even... the revenge of the tacos!!!
I feel your pain. As I mentioned in that post of mine, it's not at all unusual for me to prepare 9-12 different meals in a day. I've gotten into a very bad short-order habit that I can't seem to get out of.
The kids are one thing, but my wife is worse. I'll give her choices A, B, and C for dinner - she'll pick choice D, which is invariably more work than any of the others, and may involve a trip to the market.
Lately, when people ask what's for dinner, I say "food." They don't seem to appreciate the point. At breakfast or lunchtime, I sometimes spell it out... go open the fridge, take something out, eat it.
I usually pay for that, though, and get my dinner ingredients eaten prematurely. Ugh.
My kids would have made the tacos, but would have made such a mess doing it, I would never ask them to make anything again.....
