The Meaning of Life

This blog is 5 years old today* and I am 42 (as is the ever delectable Hugh Jackman who shares the same day and year for his birthday, so really I think we ought to be able to share some cake one of these years.  I wonder how he feels about red velvet cake...but I digress). So I reckon that means the blog is ready for kindergarten, which is where we learned all we needed to know, and I have achieved the meaning of life according to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Therefore, I'm celebrating by turning this into a "Dear Lime" post. Feel free to ask me advice on any subject and I will either answer in the voice of a kindergartner or in the voice of some wise old sage of a guru. Which will you get? It's anyone's guess.

Since I have to work today and tomorrow I'm not planning to answer in comments but whatever questions you leave for me I will answer in a future post.

Thanks to all of you who keep coming back for all the silliness, the rants, the ruminations, and the assorted drivel I put out here.  You make this such a fun place.  I am so thankful for the friendship and fun.  For those anxious to see pictures of the hair curlers/crocs ensemble...fear not...they shall be posted sooner rather than later (or perhaps you should be very afraid).

*Yeah I'm posting it Monday night even though my birthday isn't until Tuesday.  It's so I can sleep in.  You gonna begrudge me sleeping in on my birthday?   It's October 12 in Australia as I am posting this so it works.

Since time is relative the date doesn't matter so Happy Birthday!

As for advice, I rather like my current dazed and confused status but will certainly contact you in the future.

Happy Birthday, dear Michelle and Happy 5 Years of blogging. That's quite impressive.

Advice? We just had our Canadian Thanksgiving and I have a fair bit of leftover turkey. Please suggest a new and interesting recipe which will help me to use it up. Thank you.

I also have a lot of leftover wine but have no problem knowing how to handle that. ;)

Happy B-day!

What advice would you give someone [like me] who is really bad at taking advice?

Happy Birthday! I'm glad you were born! And welcome to the Meaning of Life! Probably just as well, isn't it, that you and Hugh wound up coming into the world 10,000 miles apart, even if on the same day?

And, uh, all I wanna, all I wanna, all I wanna know, is WHY SHOULD THE DEVIL HAVE ALL THE GOOD MUSIC?

Happy Birthday and 5th Anniversary! Hoo Hoo! : )

Dear Limey:

Winter is coming on and I'm don't know how to keep warmth and sunshine in this old farm house on a daily basis. I've tried drinking spiced rum and listening to Bob Marly; working myself into a frenzy; turning on every light in the house; painting the kitchen walls a horrible bright yellow; nothing seems to work. Any suggestions would be appreciated : )

Well, it's nothing special. Try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations.

Have an awesome birthday, Lime!

@ Craig: My wife ate lunch with Larry Norman once.

Happy birthday, Youngster! (I'm a whopping 3 years ahead of you.) Meesh, wish I could think of a good question. To that end, I'll try to quit eating paint chips and then I'll pick up a roll of novelty toilet paper on the way home. They have such clever ideas, you know.

I forgot to say it earlier (yeef. . .) but I'm not only glad you were born, I'm glad you started blogging, too. . . ;)

And Craver - has she washed her hand yet? ;) I never met Larry, but I'm sure Id've loved to. . .

Happy birthday! I love the photo. I tend to pout the same way when there's cake around and it's not all for me!
