Slice of Lime-I See You

I started wearing glasses when I was 6 years old.  They were ghastly pink and purple plastic frames.  I soon outgrew the need for them.  When I was in college the time came for me to need them again.  I was less than thrilled.  I have never liked the way I look in glasses.  I've never had a pair I didn't think were ugly.  It was just a matter of degrees. Ok fine, I will take these.  They are the least hideous.  Twelve years ago I was very happy to finally get contact lenses so I could avoid wearing glasses.  That was around the last time I got new frames too.  As always, I hated them.

The kids and I had eye exams recently.  They each needed new specs due to changing prescriptions.  Although my eyes haven't changed (Yay for the old lady who doesn't need her arms extended to read small print!) I decided that after a dozen years I had earned a new pair.  The old ones were scratched and uncomfortable and grew uglier each year.  I chose the ones above.  When I got them I was surprised to discover they are the first pair I don't hate.  I've actually opted to wear them in favor of contacts a few times.
Whoda thunk it?

You look beautiful. They truly suit your face.

I know what it's like to hate the glasses. I had my first blue and white striped pair at aged 5. I got the contacts at 18, went back to glasses for a few years in my 30, back to the lenses which became increasingly uncomfortable and I finally switched back to glasses last year. I still haven't found frames that I love though. Maybe next time. :)

With those glasses you are sending a seriously seductive vibe. Very nice!

I like them! Unfortunately, I started to not be able to wear contacts at the age of 30! Still irritates me.

Spectacular!

(*ba-doomp!*)

Jen and I both made it to our 50th birthdays without any substantial correction to our vision. But she is now quite a bit 'blinder' than I am. She opted for a $10 off-the-shelf pair of reading glasses from Meijer's, which she wears on a chain around her neck, so she can put them on/off as needed. I tease her for the 'school-marmish' look of it, but it works for her. . .

My eyesight is still pretty good, but my eyes don't handle the 'transitions' so good any more. I can read just fine, but after I get home from my long commute (and my eyes are all 'dialed-in' to long-distance), it's hard to read the mail for an hour or so after I get home. . .

So I guess the handwriting is on the wall. . .

I love the frames! I have reading glasses. I've had the same pair for six years, which is the last time I went for an eye exam. That's just horrible...especially since I've found the need to wear my reading glasses has grown tremendously in the last few months (thanks, massive headaches!), so I need to just carve out some time to make an appointment and get some new frames.

Very stylish! I had to get eyeglasses all my life. Hated them all - those plastic frames. I switched over to metal but with my skin allergy, I would get blisters on my feet. I went to contacts (disposable) but started having problems there with eye pressure. Switched to rimless--although there's a rim on the top-- glasses. I've been in love ever since.

Thankfully I just need magnification, which is fairly affordable, because I have:
Stepped on them
Sat on them
Kneeled on them
They have fallen off my head while on a bike.
They have fallen into the toilet.
They have been in the washing machine.
They have been under the car seat for weeks.
They have been returned to me from dozens of friends, and places that I frequent.
So, as long as I can spend under $20 to see, I will be ok!

Your glasses look cute, now, dont put em on top of your head, they will stretch out beyond wearability then fall off your face when you look down...

And finally, men do make passes and girls who wear glasses!

Yep, nothing wrong with glasses. Yours or mine. I've worn them most of my life. when contacts came in, I never even gave 'em a thought. Can't say I relish the idea of sticking something on my eye every morning. No, thanks.

Nothing wrong with "the look' either. It's totally underrated. I'm happily married and all, but there's a librarian at my local who makes my heart go pit-a-pat.

I'm just sayin' ;-)

I have a particular fondness for brunettes with glasses. Just ask MY WIFE. Of course, she doesn't let me get too close to any of the others I admire...

They look grand! I think they suit your face.

It's so dry in Colorado, I usually wear my glasses, and just wear contacts for going out. I actually feel a little odd without my glasses on.

They really do suit you.

I like those. I finally had to get a pair of glasses a couple of years ago - I'd had perfect vision up until 46 so I was less than pleased. Now I wear them, but only if I have to read something small.

Those look great on you.

If I close my eyes, can you still see me?

Great choice! I usually go with my contacts, but maybe if I had a pair of cool glasses like these, I might actually wear them outside. :)

You seems so young in your new Glasses. High School gal;)

About reading: I can't be close enough and people laugh and say: Hi, you are allmost on the backside...

Now, I'm using my 20 years old glasses again. It's funny 'cause the works fine and people ask me where I did buy them. LOL.

LIME!! It's you. So fun to see you.

I thought you were Marilyn Manson, and just moonlighting. :)

Wow 12 years is highly commendable on having the same glasses.

Your new ones are super-cute! Congrats.

Quite fetching, Lime. I've had glasses since 2nd grade. (I recently 'graduated' to bifocals)

The color of the frames works so well with your personal coloring! As one who was put into bifocals at age 7, I feel your pain. There was huge release, about ten years ago, though, when I realized I was over contacts and that being a glasses geek would open up whole new areas of fun--choosing frames not the least of them. Great choice!

Lime, I worked for quite few eye doctors and share the same "glasses hate" you have. (which is why I wear them all the time except for pictures) But I have picked out numerous pairs of glasses for people and I LOVE your new frames. They are really, REALLY cute on you. Great job! :)

I am SO the opposite! I have 12 pairs of frames that I switch back and forth wearing b/c I just love glasses. I have contacts but since moving to AK the winter air is just so damn dry that I don't tolerate even my fancy new, super moisturized lenses. Instead I change out my frames all the time. In fact, I have a new pair coming from Nome in the next week. I do like the pair you picked though :)
