Da Count in Friday 55-A Hug

I was fine
until someone asked.
Cracks formed in the dam,
threatening a torrent of tears.
I reinforced the walls.
I was fine
until the next person asked.
I tried to wave her off,
but she drew me in,
closed the door,
held me close.
The flood of tears
was no match for her shoulder.

Although I don't know the reason for your sadness,

your poem was beautiful. I could understand and relate to every line.

Some days require a good cry and bigger hugs. I hope for better, sunnier days inside and out for you

big hugs from the moon

This is so beautiful and the sentiment is quite familiar. May you always have a shoulder to cry on when you need one.

"I was fine until someone asked"

I loved this line! Very grabbing.

Without Words is my 55 this week.

Sometimes you need someone to grab you and hug you and give you 'permission' to let it out. Good friend you've got there - big time.

Been there. Hugs are healing.

It's a real blessing to have some comforting arms when everything is spinning out of control. Those tears can be cathartic.

Sad, but lovely 55.

Nothing like a good cry and a sincere hug from a good friend. Hope it helped. I don't know what I would do without the hugs I get. XX

I am too ticklish to cry when someone grabs me. Sheesh, that would be awkward.

Maybe if they just use a turkey feather and cleanse your aura, you could avoid the tears. Don't they offer that service at your wellness center?

But then, sometimes you may just need to cry. I'm glad you had someone there for you. Have a slamming weekend!

Let it all out! A good weep cleans the eyeballs as well as the heart.

I've been there. Beautifully written.

It's that line about being okay till someone asks that I really felt--that brings on the tears, and when someone says "Go ahead, it's okay to cry" that stops them like a brick wall for me--but a hug doesn't have to say anything, just be what it is.

Great 55--I always love coming here.

Your 55 almost unleashed my held back tears. They are always there, under the surface. I've been going through so much since my job loss in massive budget cuts- 21 years as a forensic nurse with San Francisco! At 64-1/2, with a mobiity disability, there was no more work for me. I loved my job and never wanted it to end.

My 55 is at:

It's always good to have someone to hug. I hope things will be looking up for you from now on, but that you'll always have a shoulder available to cry on, just in case. Mine's far away, but it's here if you need it. :)

Oh maaaaaaaaaaaannn..this is so relatable! It all seems okay till someone asks... and then, after that, everything just becomes uncontrollable!! sheeesshh!!

An excellent 55, my friend.. too close to heart..
