Da Count-Affirmation

It's been a while since I did Da Count consistently.  For those who don't know, there's a graphic in the sidebar stating, "it's what you have that counts, not what you don't have."  It's been a really frustrating couple of weeks since I lost my job for a lot of reasons, some related to the job loss, some completely unrelated.  Since being let go I have had interactions with four different patients who were all very unhappy to learn I was no longer at the office.  One said she was boycotting the office because I was her favorite person there and I made her visits something to look forward to.  A second told me she was upset I was not there when she went in but was glad to bump into me so she had a chance to wish me well.  A third said he came because of the one massage therapist and was bummed when she left but he continued to come because I was there so now he doesn't have much reason to stay there.  A fourth who knows both the doctors and me pretty well said he was deeply disappointed in the way I had been treated.  A fifth said I really brought something positive and special to the atmosphere of the office.

So I don't have a job and I don't have a decent reason for why that is but I have been given some kind  words from some of the people I served affirming that I did so in a way that was meaningful to them.  It has been a comfort.

We take comfort where we can find it.

Well, God bless 'em for saying so, eh?

I know it doesn't put any cash in your pocket, but it's good to hear, I imagine. You're not really incompetent, or 'damaged goods', which is easy to think, when you've been let go. . .

And, karma being the bitch that she is, may there be many more of your one-time customers who don't have much reason to keep going there. . .

It sure is nice to hear such things, isn't it? I suspect there will be more of the same in the near future as you encounter others.

I'm glad you're getting positive feedback. It's too, too bad you can't get an honest answer from your former employer. Even a, "Well, we flipped a coin..." or a, "We drew straws..." would offer more closure than you got.

I can't believe you've run into that many patients! Good for you that you had such a positive impact on their lives. Something good will result, I'm sure.

Not everyone gets to hear that they've had a positive effect on people's lives. You are fortunate.

I agree with what Stephen said. You are indeed fortunate to have encountered these folks. Your ex-employers sadly don't know a good thing when they have it.

And you know, once you step back from the fray of life, it all comes down to the people you've affected and how much you've made them feel better in their days.

I'd say you win.

I agree with Jocelyn. And I'm glad you got a chance to hear from so many that you matter.
