Happy Thanksgiving

Norman Rockwell's Freedom from Want is the iconic Thanksgiving image.   The budget has been tight since I lost my job but I am grateful that we are free from true want.  The bills are paid and there is ample food available.  My children and husband and I are healthy.  There was a time in the not too distant past when that was not the case so I am mindful of how important that is.  As we celebrate this day of Thanksgiving I will challenge you, as you count your blessings and give thanks, to consider those who do live in want and what actions you can take to help alleviate such want so that next year more people can be free from want.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I hope you have a great Thanksgiving! It is great to count our blessings of a warm house, food on the table, and bills paid definitely indeed! We try to give as much as we can during the year to this and that and participate in this and that to help others who are in need because I do remind myself that God has blessed us so much and I could easily be one of those in need myself :)

So glad everything is going well at your house and that you have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. And YES to your request. Thank you for that.

Happy Thanksgiving, Lime! Sandy had a way of making me extra thankful this year.....truly thankful for the little things we take for granted...like electricity!!! A big thumbs up to your challenge for all. Earlier today I was already planning how to make Christmas a little more special for one little boy in particular's family!!! I think you know the one.

A blessed holiday season to you and yours.

We had a Thanksgiving a few years ago(2008) when Mr. Logo was unemployed and our Thanksgiving feast arrived on our porch in a gift basket courtesy of friends who knew our situation and responded generously. I am so thankful that these days we are buying our own turkey and that we can provide for others who need an assist.

It is a huge pleasure to be able to serve people in need.

Yes, I am aware that a few opportunists take advantage, but it's a relief to know that I don't have to be the charity police. Their justice is in God's hands.

I have very little, but there are people who have given, sometimes sacrificially. It is because of them that my wife and I are happy to be the hands and feet that bring their kindness to needy people in our community.

It was a blessing to see one of these familiar faces approach us recently and say, "I got a raise, so I don't need to come to the Food Pantry anymore." On another occasion, we took a young mother aside and found a way to do our part to rescue her from an abusive husband.

Funny how doing some kinds of work leaves you more energized than drained.

I'm here now, being thankful to read all your recent posts--and would be more thankful to see pictures of your new, less drugged-out-hippie haircut...and pictures of you butchering deer!
