Here's a special little post-holiday ditty for everyone to chuckle over. So, how was your Thanksgiving and who were you talking about? Personally, I just give 'em something to talk about myself...more fun that way.

This was a fun ditty, and so true. We started talking about people as we waved good-bye.

We prefer to talk about family members we don't actually have to see on the holiday and give thanks for that!

For politcal reasons I am sure I was the subject of conversation at several of my relative's houses. Oh well.

oh my gosh, I'm so guilty of this! We're pulling away from my brother's house and before I have my seat belt on, I'm already talking about this one or that one in my family. Same thing yesterday when we met son and girlfriend for lunch; I think I wasn't even in the car when I started talking......but it was all good things I think.....well most of it......

I'm sure people are reciprocating and talking about me too :)

hope the day was a good one!

Cute, and very human-nature, ain't it?

I recall one Thanksgiving when Jen & I were first married, we were at her folks' house. I come from a pretty different background than my dear wife's working-class roots, and for a few years, they really didn't know what to make of me. So, after dinner, I went for a walk, to try to burn off the worst of my overstuffed gut, and when I returned, thru an unseen side door, I heard my FIL (who was unaware of my having returned) bellow, "And what the hell does he keep in that damned briefcase, anyway?". . .

So at least, you know, it wasn't TOO negative. . .

I can only remember a few times when I heard stuff like that.

(deep in thought)

Which begs the question... if that kind of talk IS going on and we're not the ones yapping, what the heck are they saying about MY family???

Very clever stuff. Nothing truly mean-spirited ever gets said at our place, and I'm sure the same holds true for the folks talking about us - we're such nice whitebread types in my side of the family (and most of MY WIFE's, for that matter) - but the talk does happen, that's a positive.

This made me laugh. No doubt families are the same everywhere.

Of course! Isn't that the way of all families?

that's quite a conclusional jump - thinking the ones that married in 'love us, I suppose'....

this is so sadly funny and true... something I am working on amending...but really hard, really, really hard not to gossip, to be present with compassion... and take that with me once the car doors close.
