Just before the holiday, Mr. Lime built a standing bird feeder for our backyard. Over the holiday I had some extra time to play with Boom-boom and the big lens to see if I could capture any birds. Here are my fledgling attempts. First up is a Blue Jay.
Here's a Dark-eyed Junco. I had to look up the name of this bird. Even though it's the most prevalent one at the feeder I had no idea what it was.
I've seen other varieties of woodpecker in the neighborhood but the Red-bellied Woodpecker seems to like the feeder as much as it likes trees.
I kept trying to catch the male cardinals that frequent the feeder but they seem shyer than the females.
Pretty girl was singing here.
Here she is again, happy to pose along with the Junco chilling out in the background.

You did great getting their pictures! What a nice assortment of birds that visited your feeder!
betty
So beautiful. I can only imagine how cold you got taking these great pictures.
You are the next Marlin Perkins....
Here are my fledgling attempts.
That may be but they are excellent pictures none the less.
New camera gear. Always makes my heart beat. Lovely birds. We have just one or two juncos that hang around and many cardinals.
It's fun to watch and tr to get photos of the birds. We are missing all the woodpeckers we used to get at the old house. I'm surprised because there are plenty of wooded areas here.
Nice.
We see lots of cardinals here, and more males than females; at least, as far as I can tell. . .
My squirrels would be all over that! But I have seen each of those birds here at my hanging feeders. I have a special fondness for the female cardnials slightly muted color.
I LOVE Juncos but I have such a hard time capturing them because they hardly ever sit still for even a second. I just love their solid dark gray color, and they look so soft.
I love the female cardinals too. And that woodpecker is awesome! Well done! :)
Wow! Great pictures.
Some of my favourite feathered friends, here. All captured to show their lovely, charming ways.
