What Have I Gotten Myself Into?

So I still have this goal of being a children's librarian but the finances of grad school are....daunting to say the least. I won't be able to consider doing that until at least Fall 2015. And then there is much second guessing as I live in a state governed by people who seem determined to propagate illiteracy through defunding both libraries and public schools. (Sad commentary for the commonwealth which brought us the United States' first free library, is it not?) Will I even be able to find a job once I have my degree?

In the meantime I feel the need to continue developing as a human being and to do something toward that. Now I've gone and signed up for a 200 hour teacher training program...in yoga. Whoda thunk it? Certainly not me. I'm excited, I'm terrified, I'm hopeful, I'm out of my mind. Anyway, these arrived in the mail today. I've got to digest that one on the lower left by next weekend when our first training weekend occurs. Here we go!

Ommmmm. . .

;)

The thing I liked best about grad school was, I was surrounded by people who were just there to learn, and not grub for a grade, or a more lucrative job down the line. That was so cool. . .

I am so disappointed in our defunding of libraries and education. Boo!
I want very much for you to become your dream. I know you would be an absolutely wonderful children's librarian!

That's cool. I like yoga, especially the stuff where you stir the fruit up from the bottom.

That's exciting! And it sure couldn't hurt to have those skills in centering yourself when you hit grad school.

Learning is always important no matter the age, but learning for a job is a more serious venture. Look at job ads for the field. How many? How often? Go to the nearby university and make an appointment with the head librarian or personnel office and ask about the job market. My experience has been with a job hunt you usually have to be willing to move.

Impressive. You never know where life will take you if you're willing to move with it.

A yoga librarian sounds very zen-like.

Books and yoga. It doesn't get any better than that. :)

Follow your dreams....the job will come along!
Good luck with the yoga ~ I can't practice right now due to the broken wrist, but I do love it.

Well, finally I get to visiting blogs (busy few weeks here), and now I find out what I'd just learned from you a few days back.

This is THRILLING.
