Random Bullets of Crap

Well thank heavens THAT is over. The Colts won, yada, yada.....can we get on with life now? A few blissful football free months...I am so happy. Now onto the randomness...

  • Math problem: I went to help get some fundraising stuff together at Calypso's school. We had to prepare 1200 packets. We started and then the principal came to inform us there was a mistake in the letter that was included and we'd have to put labels on the letters to correct the problem. The secretary brought us a stack of labels in a panic. I ONLY HAVE 200 LABELS!!! I looked at her hand and it looked like she was carrying just shy of half a ream of label sheets (in case you don't know, a full ream is 500). The lady in charged asked her how many labels on a page. Secretary said 30. I said well it looks like you have 200 sheets not 200 labels so if they are all printed we have way more than we need. Boys and girls, if we have 200 sheets of 30 labels each sheet and only need 1200 labels how many extra labels do we have? I explained the math to the secretary who continued to insist most strenuously she had merely 200 labels and had rush ordered more to print out and would have them after lunch. I was getting nowhere. I just hope she types better than she counts. In lieu of that, I hope she gives good head because she's got to earn that paycheck my taxes go toward somehow. As I mindlessly labelled letters I tried to figure out how much surface area of her desk might be covered by the extra 4800 labels we already had.
  • At times I think I like being part of the demographic that is now being courted by the media. It means Prince was the halftime show...and THAT was the only thing I paid ANY attention to. He rocked! It means the Police are reuniting for the Grammy Awards, which I haven't watched in ages. I am so excited. I'm not real big on hearing 'Roxanne' and 'Purple Rain' rendered as Muzak at the mall though. That's just wrong on so many levels.
  • Winter has officially hit us finally. It's a frigid 5 degrees Fahrenheit. However, if it is going to be that cold we should at least have some pretty snow to look at. Yes, I know my OK and WA readers are quite sick of the stuff. I am sorry.
  • If one has a wall in one's bedroom which has been gouged beyond simple spackling repair due to a particularly horrific wallpaper removal (may the inventor of wallpaper and the designer of fluorescent flowered wallpaper suffer horrifically) and one's husband states how much he hates spackling and that he is not sure he has the skills or tools to skim coat the entire wall...then if said wall sits in the gouged state for roughly a year and no progress is made toward repair, and if a friend of the wife sees said wall when the two women are bonding over quilting and the friend suggests her husband might be able to help.....if the husband with the skills offers to help repair the wall at no charge and the man with the gouged wall consents to such help does the owner of the gouged wall retain the right to sulk when the man who offered to help comes over to do so? Apparently, I have interfered with some territorial rules here by arranging to have my wall fixed at no cost. It was a coooooold night at House of Lime and I ain't talking about the mercury.

God forbid you should get the wall fixed, thereby damaging ego of homeowner....

I once made the mistake of asking a male guest at our house if he would carve the Thanksgiving turkey....ohhh, then got in trouble with the Mr for that....but I knew what the turkey would look like if he got ahold of it....
But now, that same guest, he comes every year, he always carves the turkey cuz he knows what I know about Ratburns carving techniques.
Hah!
Anonymous is me....Susie, still in the burlap sack of Google hell...

I can do walls... Art of remodeling as a child. I call it child slave labor.

I'm still kinda stuck on the label thing.. Would it not be easier to retype the newsletter? Is it not saved somewhere on a pc? Why waste money on expensive labels?

Tell Mr. Lime that he should have done the wall himself then you wouldn't have had to take someone up on the offer of free work! LOL! I hope you are having a good day!I should be back on regularly by Thursday afternoon, until then have a good one!

Will you be volunteering at school again anytime soon?

We have cold and snow. I predict you'll get lots of snow on the 17th, at least if you live anywhere near 81. I can't recall ever driving through PA in the winter without it snowing.

I'm sure Mr Lime will get over it, what ever it is. I hate wallpaper!

It's horribly hot and muggy here! I hate big cities!!!

LOL! I too, am glad that football is over...that means that our regularly scheduled TV programs can resume.

In regards to your hubby, I would say let your friend's hubby do the work...maybe that will light a fire under your hubby's butt to do something. :)

I know...easier said than done.

Here, here! I couldn't agree more, though snow does tend to make it feel even colder. In NJ we have ice on many sidewalks which makes it difficult to walk, something we love to do.

Oh yeah, the Super Bowl. Ugh.

If he has had a year to do it then he is not allowed to pout when you finally get someone else to do it...especially for free! LOL

I too am glad to see football season come to an end.

Prince really did rock the stadium. I heard that he got a shock from his guitar. If that's true, then his performance was stellar.

lol, yep, Mr. Lime realized how much of an ass it made him feel to have someone else come do something he was capable of. It happens, the important thing as that he learns from it. :D

Learn from it. That's a fuckin riot. Sorry you had it rough Limey.
You might have consulted Mr. Lime but then YOU'D be the one angry that he was being unreasonable.
It easier to get forgiveness than permission and at least your back room is straightened out. Ah, I just can't wawit to be miserably married. Will someone shoot me now please? Now? Kthx.

Short of having the secretary count labels sheet by sheet ("28... 29... 30, 31...32...") I don't think you could possibly have communicated with her. Somewhere around the 3rd or 4th sheet she might have realized she had 30 times more labels than she thought. Maybe?

Mr. Lime needs to give you big kiss for getting the gouge fixed.

Great bullets here.
The last one first. Anna knows
I'm capable of doing the spadework, then she takes over and do the details - My eyes does not observe those when working on a wall. Today we have painted walls.
And if she needs help, and can have it from free from a handyman, I applaude to such a great and timesaving idea. So we stay warm. LOL.

Math is complicated these days. Some people need a scanner and a barcode for everything. But have problems with exotic fruit and veggies. - Do you know what's this is called. - I answer something crazy or a cheap variety. And more than once they have checked out with a tenth of the real price. On a Saturday we bought a dozen oysters. The young girl behind the desk thought the price was pr. kilo (about 2 lbs) not by piece. We gor 12 for 2/3 of one piece. The shops got what they pay for - but why do I go to such shops. To have cheap oysters of course.

Great post. I like it.

=^.^=

Depending on how big her desk is, I figure the extra labels will cover about half of it. And you're a lot more liberal about how your tax dollars are spent than most people!

We were discussing Prince at work today. One of the ladies said she thought he did well *because* he wasn't rude or profane (comparing him to the Janet Jackson incident.)

Well, I didn't see the JJ exposure but I hear it was only a couple of seconds so I wouldn't consider it rude or profane.

I thought Prince was great *in spite* of his lack or rudeness and profaneness! (-:

That secretary better get a calculator. LOL And the principal better get a new secretary.

Prince was pretty darn cool last night :)

The math story is hilarious. I take pride in being able to do most logical math problems in my head thanks to Grandpa's lessons at the kitchen table when I was a kid. how DO some people survive?

owner of the wall gives up his right to sulk once consent has been given.

....snow... real snow... (today it was up to 70, it's currently about 40, and i'm sittin here in jeans and an old grey golf shirt, fer crying in the sink... (snow... SNOW... reasons to drive a 4x4, and practice to be sliding along in parking lots, sideways, wheels cocked into it all, and the motor revving it up and down to steer the car round the curve...
...snow.

(I'd recommend joint compound over spackle, it's firmer, sands smoother, and comes in this really cool pink formula that turns white when it's ready.. (not recommended for finish sanding, -but as a skim coat, -with some (water based,) kilz over it, scuffed with some 150?
It will be gawjus...

(sorry to hear 'bout the Mr... yeah it's territorial... sort of like another woman bringing him dinner... even tuna hot-dish can lead to homicide, (well, in Fargo, at least.)

ok..wheel me off to the old folks home, I commented on this post yesterday but I must've previewed it and forgot to publish it.
I forgot what I said but it had something to do with a man's cave being his domain and marking his territory and stuff.
I'm with hubby on this one. If he'd asked the friend to help that's one thing but for the wives to get together and plan it that's a no no.
It'd be like having one of his friends come into your kitchen and help you redo on of your Trinidad recipes.
Hope it warmed up over there.:)

My thought:
When you celebrate an anniversary for an unfinished house project...
theres no guy code to follow anymore.
Besides when buddy comes over with his spackle stuff or tools, whatever the hell you need for that "job" (hehe) they'll get so immersed in tools and talkin shop and shit he might not be so alpha male about the whole thing anymore.

Oh and speaking of Jobs, I agree.. hope she gives good head.

hahaha you crack me up.

Lime, you have a comment eating monster in your blog. I wrote a comment earlier this week for this post, suggesting that Mr. Lime should come to my house to fix my walls and his male ego.
