Da Count & Friday 55-Unwired

FRIDAY 55

Metal mouth, tinsel teeth, tin grin.
I can't eat
hard pretzels, corn on the cob, caramels, apples, or chewing gum.
I just loooooove when I get an extra wire and Dr. Excitement tightens them all.
Not anymore, baby! After 33 months they are off!

Now if I could just learn to talk with a retainer....

DA COUNT

After nearly 3 years Diana got her braces off this week. I'm happy for her. She's had them a lot longer than was initially predicted. I made steak and corn on the cob in celebration. She had a big, juicy apple while I was cooking. She's also looking forward to playing her trumpet without the hindrance of her braces as well. She's a happy girl....until I start giggling at the way she lisps around her retainer. Bad Mommy, stop that! It's not funny.

#1 got her back bands off yesterday and will get all of her braces off in two weeks. She's also had hers much longer than expected. I'm excited to see her bare teeth and cook these special items for her as well.

She's gonna be so appreciative of those 3 years under the wire some day! :)

I wore braces for almost three years and oh man does it feel good when them babies come off. Mine have been off for about eight and a half years and I couldn't be happier.

Congratulations to Diana!

Have a great weekend!

She's been blowing a horn for THREE YEARS with braces on? That must have been tough.

Seriously. I pretty much learned to play the bass guitar on an instrument strung with rusty cable. Except, I didn't really know any better at the time. So, when I finally got my hands on a REAL bass, I found that I was two or three years ahead of where anyone else would have been. I had given my hands such a beating, the real instrument was simplicity.

Here's hoping the same is true for Diana and her trumpet.

Bet she's on the prowl on all the "inconvenient" food she had to avoid. Funnily enough I have a food related count as well today.

Cheers!

Great 55. Brings back memories of the retainer lisp too. We took pictures on the days our kids got their braces off--they held their mouths freakishly wide open.

Woo Hoo!!!! Good for her...I bet she's a happy camper!

Poor baby. Bad enough her friends will be teasing her, but you? Her mommy that's supposed to love her no matter what. Her mommy that's suppose to kick the ass of kids that tease her. Yes, you are a bad mommy for doing that. I'm disappointed with you. :-(

I think it's funny though and it's probably the same thing I would do. Wait, I think I did the same thing, so never mind. I'm a bad daddy. :-(

Congrats to Diana! She sure looks like she is really enjoying that corn. I can totally understand her happiness. I can't wait to have mine off too, but I still have a while to go. :( Tell her to enjoy her toothy freedom.

I wish I'd had braces, my teeth are as wonky as can be.

I get such shit from my students that have retainers and mis-pronounce words in English. I tend to snigger involuntarily.

Little Rita gets her braces off in July...she only had to wear for a year because they were just moving her supernumerals around......

But this is just her first set....she will need more in a couple years...poor kid...
Glad we have good dental insurance!

yay Diana! Can we get a smile picture now?

You summed up braces in 55 words - fantastic! Diana must be so relieved to be rid of them!

My oldest in the midst of braces. We're hoping for an end-date soon!

I hated having braces. No gum, no taffy, no corn on the cob, nothing fun.

Good news for Diana. Braces suck, but the results I'm not complaining about.
