Slice of Lime-The Way I Am

Most "love songs" make me want to gag because they're either too sappy and overwrought or not really about love. Hoooow can I liiiiiive withouoooooout yoooooouuuu. That's not love, that's fear. The way I see it, love is about accepting a person warts and all and living in a way that facilitates good for that person. It's not mere emotion. It involves your will too. So this week I bring you Ingrid Michaelson's "The Way I Am." Now THAT'S a love song. Plus, it's got a sweet, simple tune that just makes me smile.

If you were falling, then I would catch you.
You need a light, I'd find a match.
Cuz I love the way you say good morning.
And you take me the way I am.

If you are chilly, here take my sweater.
Your head is aching, I'll make it better.
Cuz I love the way you call me baby.
And you take me the way I am.

I'd buy you Rogaine when you start losing all your hair.
Sew on patches to all you tear.
Cuz I love you more than I could ever promise.
And you take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.

You take me the way I am.

WTF???

you stole my Yahteez I don't know how but you did & so I gave you that Rakshosi in my first comment there!

LIME I agree. One that kills is not love. Love gives life! Love is the sharing where the more you share the more it grows. Love is the radiance, the fragrance of knowing oneself & being oneself. Love is a state of being!
Oh don't start me now... ( Shut up Mona!!!)

O G man G man... You have a lot to contend with THIS particular contending!

... not to forget... with Yours Truly

Love is a very overused word today.

I once heard that a true friend is one who loves you despite knowing all about you.

Egads!!! not a Rakshosi, lol. :D

Gee, I really like many sappy love songs, but of course, who can beat The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes" with such wonderfully sappy lyrics as...

"When my fist clenches, crack it open -- Before I use it and lose my cool -- When I smile, tell me some bad news -- Before I laugh and act like a fool

"If I swallow anything evil -- Put your finger down my throat -- If I shiver, please give me a blanket --
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat"

;)

Ya know, I just never let anyone take me for anything more or less than who I actually am. It saves a lot of heartbreak.

I really like the photos you posted. They add to the timbre of your words.

Lime - Lovely lyric. However, being a man and all, I've got to say that the thing which will stick with me from this post is the sweater photo. Rowr! Dead-on sexy, that is!

Never looked at that, but you have a valid point. Nice pictures too. You look hot!

Excellent - if I may, a little Dream Theater lyricage...

To those who understand
I extend my hand
To the doubtful I demand
Take me as I am
Not under your command
I know where I stand
I won’t change to fit your plan
Take me as I am

Very nice. I like not feeling like I have to be perfect all the time, because my sweety really does love me for me.

This works just as well when directed to a life partner, a child, etc.

Cuz, um, we all know our kids will need Rogaine.
