History has been made. I am truly proud of my country for having progressed far enough to rise above race even if I disagree with some of President Elect Obama's positions. Now let's get down to brass tacks and repair some damage. The campaigns sickened me but the speeches each man made at the end of the night were gracious, which was a welcome change. Congratulations to President Elect Obama. May he be successful in building the bridges between people who disagree, in restoring some hope, in effective governing which unites people cooperatively rather than coercively, and in regaining the respect which has been lost at home and abroad. I do not envy him the task ahead of him or the mess he inherits. I wish him wisdom.

Now, enough politics. I am going to go de-stress from the debacle that was a Presidential race by enjoying my birthday gift at The Spa at Hotel Hershey. I think it will be a pretty nice antidote. I hope to share pictures and tales when I get back. I've been checking out the amenities and such. They have an adventure course with a zipline. Woohoo!!! I may need to check that out. Don't worry. I'll use harnesses and a helmet if I try it this time.

Then I will be spending some time with a friend from college I haven't seen in about 5 years. It will be so good to see her. With any luck I may also have a chance to connect with another friend who moved out there several years ago. Chocolate, friends, and lovely surroundings....ahhhh.

See you all next week!

I can't think of a better way to spend the day - a spa, chocolate, good friends -all excellent!
Peace.
Oh, and I so agree with your assessment of the speeches given last night too. Hope this puts civility back into our collective vocabularies and that all will try as best we can to work, in whatever manner possible, to restore our country to its rightful position of honor.

I have called the chocolate spa and they know about you. They have promised that they will not let you near the zipline without the proper safety equipment and supervision.

Additionally, they have installed an air mattress under the zip line just for you.

Have fun!
Cant wait to see the pics!

Sounds heavenly! We stayed at the Hershey Lodge a number of years ago and ate at the restaurant there and had a wonderful time. The waitress left us a big pile of Hershey miniatures with our check. It smells sooooo good there. Have fun!

Did you go to college in PA? College daughter and I visited and/or looked into a number of PA colleges. What a wealth of educational opportunities there.

I am glad the campaigning is over because it was getting to me too. I wish Obama all the luck and I am ready to see what our future holds.

I agree w/you re the election. The simple fact that our country has gotten far enough past the 'race thing' to elect a black man president, is a very, very good thing. Perhaps we're finally taking Dr. King at his word, about 'the content of his character', rather than the color of his skin.

And we'll have four years, at least, to find out about the content of his character. . .

And I'm with you also, on the relief of being done with the political news cycle for just a little while. . .

Congrats with an important political victory. Its really shows that the American people want a change too - it gives the whole world a new hope!

How wonderful that you can have this wonderful and sweet trip - go girl, have fun and enjoy every minute of it!

Have a great time Lime. You deserve it.

Indeed both the speeches at the end were gracious. I was quite humbled by Mc Cain's speech in the end.

I did a post about this too!

I once spent two nights at the hotel Hershey. It was a business trip many, many moons ago and the only thing I can remember about it was that the streetlamps looked like Kisses and everthing smelled like chocolate. I felt like a kid again. Hope you have aa even better experience.

My fellow Americans,

I have received a message from Lime while in a chocolate haze. She was about to roll around in a fondue pot and be massaged with caramel or something like that! My god,w hat decadence!

They have, however, forbidden her access to the zipline. News travels fast.

Mnn whats that smell? Must be Lime dipped in chocolate!

I think we should sent Obama some chocolate. He's going to need it. ;)

I'd tell you to enjoy the Hershey Spa, but that's like...well, telling you to enjoy chocolate, which it's pretty impossible for you not to. :)

My hope is that they voted not for his race but for him himself. I'm looking forward to the day when all the stupid reporters and "news" magazines stop telling us that Obama is black and Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin are women. I think I can figure that out for myself.

Of course, I voted 3rd party, but Obama will be Pres in only a few months and I wish him the best of luck. He has no idea what kind of mess he's getting into.
