Friday 55-Harbin Ice Festival

*image from boingboing.net

The wind sweeps down
from the far corners of the world
gusting across the plains,
whistling through the trees.
The gales moan and howl
as they batter and chap
those they toss along.
The blustering gives way
to a haunting melody
gently beckoning
as it softly swells
and draws those
who fall under its charm.

I am inspired. Do you think I could make a really cool sculpture out of ice shot glasses?

such concepts in ice are so foreign to this florida girl! i'd have to see it to fully appreciate it. have a great weekend!

p.s. if you see a spike in your stats this weekend, it's me digging for interview question material!

I love windpoems. Actually it was in a poem called The North Wind which I first told my husband I loved him :-) And this amazing ice sculpture definitely reminds me of the North Wind!

What a wonderful poem and such an amazing sculpture. Very nice Lime.

I have attended Winter Carnival up in our Upper Peninsula in Houghton Michigan. The build the sculptures in January and the Carnival is the about the last weekend in January. They have some amazing sculptures up there. The link above does not do the sculptures justice at all.

Anyway I am amazed at the people that are able to do these wondrous carving and, for that matter, mighty fine poetry too.

I think what's really important here is to note that I was first chair flute all through junior high.

Until that bitch Melissa Fox edged me out the last year.

I quit.

I feel cold just looking at that, your sweeping wind isn't helping either.

woah, thats incredible...
how ever do human beings
carve such magnificence
out of just frozen water?
i'm blown away,
pun intended,
and your 55 is
a perfect match
for such visual beauty...

OK, I just got a case of the shivers thinking about how cold and for how long it must be to carve such a sculpture! ;)
