Wimps Need Not Apply

I live in an area that gets snow. Snow is not a rare occurrence. As such, it seems our road departments and schools ought to be reasonably well equipped to deal with it. Schools were canceled for today before the first flake of snow fell last night. I am typing this post out and setting it to post early because I intend to capitalize on the opportunity to sleep in. That said, I think it is silly to cancel school before the precipitation has commenced. Makes me wonder about the general survival skills of the decision makers so of course this is the prefect opportunity to waste time with highly scientific internet quizzes to determine my own survival skills.

At least if I had to face a class of angry kindergartners I could handle them.

Zombies seem to pose a bigger problem for me.

But I am not half bad against a number of wild animals.

Is this a good number of cannibals to be able to sustain or not? I haven't kept current with cannibal nutritional needs.
How many cannibals could your body feed?

I dunno, if this is so great either and I have no intention to seek hard evidence verifying this estimate.

At the very least I know how to dress for the weather...

I can't understand why the cancel school because of snow - I mean; then it is real fun also to play outside on breaks. But then again, I'm a Norwegian :-)

We are off today too, but they didn't make any announcements until 6 AM, so we were up anyway.

Enjoy the day, Lime.

We don't usually get snow but around here people hit panic mode when they start talking about flurries, however our county is always the last to call school out.

Hope you got to sleep in as late as you wanted this morning!

Huh? They canceled school BEFORE the snow? What if there's a lot less than expected? What if it doesn't come at all?

Wimps.

Now, I have to leave, I have a few tests to take.

Our country comes to a stand still too. But you look well prepaired!

Lime-that is an Eastern PA thing-The other side of the state is way hardier! We moved to Shillington in Jan of '01 and the first day they cancelled school-there was barely an inch on the ground! Where I'm from it takes 4-5 before they cancel!

Amusing quizzes. For my part, I could whoop 20 five-year-olds in a fight, but as many as 24 ninety year-olds. And I feel pretty good about that. Do you suppose I should include that sort of information on a resume or Sunday School teacher's application?

Incidentally, my body could feed 0 cannibals (just in case there any listening in).

G-man's edgy response reminds me of how I play games at home. I try my hardest to win the prize, and we do playful trash talking along the way, but if I don't win... especially if I trail in a big way, I'll say, "Well, who cares? This is a stupid game, anyway." The kids just laugh. ;-)

Like I was sayin' last week. . .

This is what comes of hiring lawyers for the school board. . .

And those quizzes? Hilarious, but just. . . wrong. . . ;)

Damn, woman. You have a 34% chance of beating up a gorilla? If we ever do get together for that drink, I'd better be damned nice to you.

Holy hell! I could take on 24 kindergartens. It sure wasn't brute strength, but probably all the expereince fighting my sibs as a child. Plus my questionable ethics.

Ninja Lime (re: picture) ... hmm... could be a movie franchise in that.

you know one thing you've got going for you... all those Penn Dutch, they love the crap out of some fattening foods - scrapple, pretzels, sausages, etc. you will have some good eatins 'round your parts (pun intended)

LMAO!!!! 16 kindergardeners huh??? :D

In Cali we have fog... I mean seriously dense fog and they will call a foggy day schedule, the school day starts later to let the fog burn off. One morning it was SO bad and they didn't call a foggy day. Parents called the school district IRATE. So they scheduled a foggy day for the next day and, yup you guessed it... blue skies and not a bit of fog at all... heeheehee!!!

Happy sleeping in! :D

Ooo you are too silly. At least there is absolutely no chance of snow here, beastly chilly stuff.

OK I can feed 7 cannibals.
ANd I can take on 13 five year old kids in a fight.

and a 38% chance of survival in the apocalypse.

Where do you find this stuff?

I'm envious. I can't even fight off a snack attack.

I agree that is wimpy, they obviously haven't gotten to use up enough school days this year. Dressing properly is the most important part, you're a survivor.

Hi,
New here.:)I took one of those zombie quizzes once and think I scored pretty high. I'm glad all those horror movies I've watched are proving useful now.;)

Well, at least you're putting your time to good use.

Gotta love being snowbound preemptively. I don't need to find out how many kids I could take in a fight. I get my ass handed to me at least once a week by my students.

The snapshots from the museum were really nice, especially petite pensee.

One of my teachers is from India and he says that Mumbai is about 80% slum. Hyperbole? I don't know, but he was so matter of fact about it that I belive him.

Cheers to you, princess.

Even the new president razzed the DC school systems for canceling school. As his little 7 year old pointed out..."dad, when it's this cold in Chicago we still go out to recess". what is the big deal...it's winter in the north east. It happens, get over, go on with life. Glad you braved the weather with the proper attire.

Here in New Mexico they refuse to call off school until the eleventh hour. So then they announce a two-hour delay. The kids get on the buses two hours late and by the time they arrive, the officials have announced a two-hour early closure. They get in about fifteen minutes of classroom time, and lunchtime.
