Friday 55 & Da Count-Partaking of Flesh

FRIDAY 55

Barely whispered desire
a soft earlobe taken gently between lips
nibbling along a jawline
down an exposed throat
across a collarbone
hungry kisses
slowly descend a torso
tender skin flushes with ripeness
a mouth lingers momentarily
over the agonizing choice
to ravenously devour the feast
or slowly savor the succulence
in the partaking of flesh

DA COUNT

Well, it's an entirely different sort of partaking of flesh but this week I am counting Calypso's return to omnivorism. A little over 2 years ago she announced she was becoming a vegetarian. It was kind of a pain in the neck to accommodate this new dietary restriction when her father and siblings are firmly in the meat eating camp of hunter/gatherers but I did my best to keep everyone happy. A couple of weeks ago after I had made sloppy joes for dinner one night Calypso came out of the kitchen shovelling the leftovers into her mouth as fast as she could. In between bites she moaned blissfully, "Mmmmmm, I REALLY missed meat!" Last night we went to a steakhouse to celebrate her rediscovered joy in carnivorous delights. I'm counting a return to easier meal planning and a night off from cooking and kitchen cleanup.

Wow. . . a worthy piece of love-poetry, there, my dear. . .

And, while I've always tried to be properly respectful of folks (even teenage girls, who seem to form a disproportionate portion of them) who 'go vegetarian', I always sorta wonder how often it comes down to something like what yer girl did. God bless you for being so accommodating of her.

I've been on a 'special diet' for upwards of the past three years. We tried to adapt the family's menu to it, in a general sense, but the kids simply refused. Enough of them had enough disposable cash that they'd just eat fast food away from home, rather than eat what we put in front of them. And then we had a fridgeful of leftovers that spoiled because nobody would eat them, either. (*sigh*)

Yay!!!! This is such a great count!!! And might I say your 55 is quite suggestive :)

::sigh:: I'm feeling deprived I guess... weird.

Anywho, Happy Friday and Yay for Meat!

Love the 55 and thought your count today is stellar!

OK... it did make me laugh... not that there is anything wrong with being a vegetarian. :)

Cheers!

Oh, my gosh. . .

I just got the 'common theme' here. . . 'Partaking of the Flesh'. . .

Nothing gets by me, I'll tell you. . .

Once again, I bow before your amazing cleverness. . .

I am with G-Man, I need to go take a cold shower... yow.

That is super you accomidated her and also wonderful to have her back on the dark side again. I would have so much problems being a vegan. I mish my meat on Fridays during lent and that is only one day a week for less than two months. I am so hopeless.

Congratulations to you on two wonderful events in less than a week. I hope everyone had a lovely meal.

Happy weekend ...

After 8 years of being a vegetarian, Erynn decided to become a vegan....I AM SO GLAD SHE DOESN'T LIVE AT HOME!!!

YEAH MEAT!!!!

Oh, and when I first read your 55, I thought you must have been peeking through the window at my mannequin and me.

I know where you are coming from. My son has also decided to be a vegitarian, and well he didn't give in so easily. I think he has been at it since November. I do my best to be supportive and want to make sure he gets the nutrition he needs, but it is tough always having to provide a vegitarian alternative.

Was that 55 a slow-mo description of the Mike Tyson ear biting event?

we have been through the vegetarian thing with our 13 yr old as well but she changed her mind after a few months thank goodness, it does make creating meals much easier.

The 55 was awesome!

I've known other moms whose teenage daughters went through these vegetarian phases and created havoc with the meal planning.

In our house it was the parents who became vegetarian for a while. We took the kids with us, then after a time, re-instated meat in to their diets, not ours. Then we went back on meat. Now we're empty nesters, leaning more towards the vegetarian all of the time, especially my husband. Just don't take away my sugar or there will be hell to pay!

That was a most sensual 55, by the way.

My six year old declared herself a vegan after seeing something on television she shouldn't have a while back. She really does care deeply for animals and said she didn't want to hurt cows or chickens. As for shrimp, she refused to eat them because they are yucky.

Her vegan period lasted as long as the next visit to McDonalds but she still refuses to eat shrimp.

Awesome! Sloppy Joes would turn me around any day I got the idea that I wanted to be a vegetarian. I am a midwestern rancher's daughter to the core! My sloppy joe "technique"...bun open faced, two pieces of cheese, Lay's plain potato chips and pile on the beef!! I don't want to have to ask, "Where's the beef?"

I'm with some of the others~~ thank gawd it is shower day here!
I also went through the veggie stage with my oldest son and youngest daughter. They both have come back to the dark side but I did find it challenging at times!

great 55...my son was a vegetarian for 2 yrs as well, his friend even longer. one night they went to denny's and his friend asked for something and they brought out buffalo chicken strips. he devoured those like an animal lol so my son also went back to eating meat as well.

Your libido is so healthy.

I have a soft spot for people who choose vegetarianism as a part of youth but then return to the Meat Mothership as they, em, mature. I didn't do that--hell, I'm not crazy--but many of my beloveds in life did.
