High Drama and High Fashion

This year Calypso has taken Drama 1 and Drama 2 as electives at school. She has enjoyed them thoroughly and been told she is a natural. I suppose between that and the recent Academy Awards she decided to express her feelings about a rather vexing situation in a dramatic fashion. Because I adore all of you so much I made her repeat her performance just so I could share it with all you lovely people.

I say she deserves an award for creativity in expression of frsutration. If I'd been thinking I'd have made her grab a shampoo bottle like Kate Winslet used to do. But hey, doesn't she look groovy in that awesomely tie dyed shirt?

This weekend we also went to my mother's house so Diana could be fitted for the prom gown my mother is making for her. Mom first made the gown out of old sheets and curtains before she went cutting into the good fabric so she could determine what alterations might be needed and not make any irredeemable mistakes (i.e. cutting too small a size as was the case with the sheet dress) on the expensive stuff. When Mom told me she used old bed sheets and curtains we both laughed over images of Carol Burnett. Nonetheless, Diana was delighted with the mock up dress and wants to keep it simply because the fabric is ghastly.

When the time comes maybe we can make her wedding gown out of my old tie dye sheets.

I can see why she wants to keep that sheet dress - it's actually very cute! And Calypso is hysterical.

That is a pretty cool sheet dress. Calypso was perfect in her performance. Both of your daughters are very beautiful Lime.

I would be very happy to have that dress, even though it's made from a sheet. I would be even happier if I could fit into it! Thank you for allowing you husband to impregnate you so that we could share your daughters with you. Great stuff and very entertaining.

Well, darn it! I'll have to check back with Calypso tonight at home, since the network at work doesn't let those vids thru. . .

But dresses out of sheets and curtains can't help but make me think of 'The Sound of Music'. . . And a tie-dye wedding dress would just be unutterably cool; do what you can to get her to let you make it for her. . . ;)

cocotte, we all got a kick out of the bed sheet dress and how the underskirt clashed

breazy, aawww, thanks

retired, yep, i'd be thrilled if i could fit in that dress too!

desmond, my first reaction was sound of music but i couldn't find the appropriate clip to link to. then mom said carol burnett and we both cracked up.

those are such lovely children...

I have been visting the hopital in LA Nothridge daily , as my brother in law is in the ICU in a drug induced coma, and I met several nurses there and I thought of Diana . You should let her be a nurse if she wants to. I feel its a calling...

Oh man the video got me ALL excited as my oldest daughter is due home in 10 days! She is a goofball too! I'm loving the tiers in that dress.. and you have to admit - it isn't a bad color for her lol...

She's a hoot! That was hilarious. And, yes, she was absolutely made to wear tie-dye.

I know exactly the Carol Burnett skit you are referring to, I loved her when I was growing up. My best friend, Susan, and I used to look forward to watchin the CBShow and I wanted to be one of the dancers when I grew up.

Your mom has mad sewing skills, does she want to move to SF and help me out? I could use an assistant!

Calypso is going to need a sheet dress soon too,for the Oscars! Or perhaps hers ought to be made out of tie dye towels?

:P

a sheet dress prom could be kind of fun if all the girls were in on it...and the guys could make their tuxes out of duct tape.

She brought the drama to her momma!

So cool! i sent this to my daughter.
my carrie is tripping on the similarities. She also took drama and i was subjected to thrice weekly practices ending at 9:00pm for months at a time while she participated in everything drama, all the while playing on the soccer team.
You have a beautiful family!!!

mary, that would be such a fun thing i think. far less pressure than it is now.

tim, she did indeed

misticblu, i was a drama club geek back in the day myself.

She IS a natural! I look forward to her feature debut.
The prom sheet is wonderful and a fitting comment on these economic times. She could be the only attendee with a statement dress!

LOL @ G-man; I thought the same thing. Of course, Calypso is mini-Lime, but this photo of Diana shows her inheritance from you more than usual; especially her smile. . .

The best 'thank you for the award' speech given EVER!

amazing what can be done with bed sheets these days but she does really need the curtain rod to make the outfit :) And that pattern in champagne would make a wedding dress worthy of being worn indeed; and only for prom! I'm sure it will be beautiful.

What beautiful daughters you have, Michelle!

And I see Calypso got her mother's flair for hilarity.

That was a hoot - quite enjoyable to see the drama, the clothes, the toweled hair, and yes, the spittin images of you. You were so cute as a young mom... I love your memories. Never a dull moment in your home is there?

Your daughter looks lovely in her dress and your drama queen is hysterical. She also looks a lot like her mom. Wonderful stuff.

Mad props to Calypso. . . the teens who live in my house don't even wanna THINK about their dad impregnating their mom. . .
