Slice of Lime-Retro Hygiene

I was at a loss for an idea for today's Slice of Lime then I realized I am off to the dentist later this morning. So you're getting this lovely shot of me brushing my teeth. And yes, I floss too.

For the retro bit of this post I'll share how my mom used to sing the Ipana jingle to get me to brush my teeth when I was a kid. Ipana was a popular toothpaste when she was a kid. I've never laid eyes on an actual tube of the stuff but I do know the mascot Bucky Beaver and the jingle.

Brusha, brusha, brusha
get the new Ipana.
It's dandy for your teeth!

The dentist! Uggggg! I have been so many times the past 3 months they ALL know me on a first name basis in that office!!

Good luck and have a wonderful day!

I remember Ipana. . . Awww, man, now you made me feel old. . .

And you know, I'm wondering, just the least bit, what motivated you to snap that photo in the first place? "Oh, I'm brushing my teeth; this would be a great shot! Especially with the towel and the bathrobe!"

???

;)

This did bring back memories of the pajama party scene from the movie "Grease."

Will you report back? "Look Ma....No cavities!"

jazz, aww, it's cute, sing it with me...

cheerful, you betcha

desmond, just a slice of my life is all and i was devoid of other ideas. knowing i had to go to the dentist made me think of it. and hey, i've posted far less flattering pictures of myself than this.

wixy, i had forgotten about that until i went searching for a clip to link to ;)

You'll wonder where the Yellow went,
When you brush your teeth with Pepsodent!!

"Crest has shown to be an effective decay preventive dentifrice, when used in a conscientiously applied program of oral hygiene, and regular professional care"...
(I did NOT google that last one either)

Your teeth are lovely...BOTH of them...G

cocotte, i did just that a couple years ago.

gman, and your teeth look so nice sitting in that glass in the bathroom, :P

Everytime I hear brusha, brusha, brusha I think of Grease. Can't help it.

I hate the dentist. Just hate it. I have spent wayyyy to much time in that chair. It's a good thing I have 100% dental insurance.

Now Lime, this picture reminds me of the one of you with towel on head that we shopped a couple of years ago...remember?

I did beauty treatments too!
Have fun at the dentists.

"I am your dentist.
And I enjoy the career that I picked.
I'm your dentist.
And I get off on the pain I inflict!"

Did I start this theme, I wonder, with my posts about the hero Stavros, the saviour of my smile?

How come you look so beautiful?

What is up with bloggers and dentists this month? You, me, Buck, Moannie, and I think I've read others, too, all making visits and having things yanked and implanted and bridged. Is there some heretofore unexplored connection between blogging and teeth?

Greese LIVES!!! :) Hahahaha!!!

Wow dentists seem to be a theme lately :)I have to take myself to the dreaded dentist myself :/

kat, go greased lightning!

furiousball, yes you have had quite the rough time lately

s, lol, yes i do remember bs made the towel green so it matched the gunk on my face for st patty's day :)

moannie, your stavros is a keeper for sure. and now you have me blushing.

suldog, 9 out of 10 bloggers surveyed have teeth.

mssolitaire, it's the beauty school dropouts that worry me more than the dentists

I love today's banter between you and G-man. I just got back to work today, and my new grandpa status has inspired all manner of geriatric jokes.

The only thing worse for me than going to the dentist is to take my kids. Seeing them uncomfortable and seeing the dentist drive up in his new Lexus realizing I paid for a portion of it makes my woozy.

BTExpress said...

I was going to ask what your wearing under the rob, but would be too naughty. So I just say I envy your dental habits.

lime said...

craver, we are a lively bunch in these parts and i suspect being a grandpa hasn't dampened your liveliness one bit.

beach bum, i really don't mind the dentist at all

btexpress, LOL, well, the robe and towel are more than i usually wear when i brush my teeth.

love the towel wrapped on the head look...

Breazy said...

You look good even in a robe and towel girl!

Hope the dentist appointment went well. :)

Polt said...

Yeah, that's about how awake and enthused I look in the morning too. :)

HAPPY HNT!

Okay, now you're just taunting me--purposely putting up pictures that highlight those eyebrows.

Those eyebrows.

The dentist gives me the creepy crawlies but I do my best to put up with it. I do have to say that my dentist back in MN was amazing and I wished he had talked me into the night block instead of letting me decide on my own. The thing is amazing!!! No daily headaches now.

mary, i think the towel turban will be a hit on runways next season

breazy, no cavities!

polt, lol, mornings are just rough

jocelyn, when i pull the towel too tight they look sort of vulcan

moose, glad to hear he found a treatment that works

Huh - that's a new one on me.

Anonymous said...

I just love that jingle (totally new to me); it makes even brushing your teeth funny :-)

Rick Rockhill said...

OK, the towel turbin is SO AWESOME on you! It's retro Lana Turner and looks great on you!!!!!
