Slice of Lime-New Dyes

This winter was the winter that began early and would never end. When it finally seemed to end it went straight from winter into summer skipping spring entirely. A couple of weekends ago it went from frigid to 4 straight days in the 90s. It was a weather related whiplash. Anyway, during that time I was downtown for another reason and saw a rack of lightweight tie dye things. I was kind of wishing for a a big baggy dress I could wear around the house to keep cool. Lo and behold the tie dye things were gauzy, baggy dress things. Better yet, they were super cheap. I got one. It ain't fashion but it will be cool in the summer when the heat starts to get to me.

Over the winter I also had a big tie dyeing blitz during which time I made about 18 shirts. I liked this one so much I decided to keep it. The weather has only recently settled into some degree of seasonal normalcy so now I finally get to enjoy it.

My 15 year old flip flips finally bit the dust too and I needed some new ones. I was pretty excited when I found tie dyed flip flops but I didn't have time to take a picture. Maybe later.

Oh sorry, seemed to me you were channeling Jimmy Buffet somewhere in this post.
:-)

Sweet. . . The shirt is way cool. . . And you know, I don't generally wear dresses, but that looks like it would be really comfortable. If, you know, you wear dresses. . . ;)

Now that is a dress I would love to have to be-bop around in! I've been looking for a few things, but as of yet no luck. Dresses are so much cooler in the summertime.

Speaking of flip-flops, I found two but they don't match. It has not stopped me from wearing them though. I mean if I can walk around down town in dress shoes on the WRONG feet, well.... ;)

strange thing about a change of season and the cupboard... there's nothing to wear! must've been naked the last season...

embee, not entirely without logic there ;)

desmond, i bet it would be positively fetching on you

jinksy, thanks!

kfarmer, if i had two mismatched flip flops i'd wear em that way. my old ones were so bad though the layers of the sole were flaking apart and what was left was squished completely flat. it was like walking around in strings and cardboard.

Thats a great tue dye hippie girl dress, and who says tie dyed hippie dresses aren't fashion?
Sure they are!

Now how many seconds would it have taken to snap a shot o your flip flops? Sheesh.

Oh yeah, that would require painting toe nails, adding a toe ring or too, moisturizing...I hear ya!

Happy Slice Of Lime day to you!

I love the dress.

I love the shirt too.

My daughter and I once did up a dozen fruit of the loom "wife beaters" and added lace and rick-rack to girlie them up for summer. Maybe it's time to do that again. Thanks for the idea.

As someone whose hair is soooooo thin and white, never having been the flowing mane I hungered for, I am so envious of your beautiful dark thick springy hair. The duds looks great, you'd look good in a sack and no doubt have, but your hair, it's....I'm blubbing.

Ahh you look just like summer.. of '68 :)

Hey, I just had to tell you - I've been wearing the tie-dye socks you gave us for every softball game. I'm convinced they will bring me luck. So far, so good. However, I get the (good-natured) grief from my teammates for wearing them. Will you come back up here and beat them up for me after the season?

That what happened here too. Colder than heck for several days then bam hotter that heck!(you know I wanna use the other word!)Mr Gab was finally nice enough to put in one air conditioner. It probably wouldnt be so bad except I get sick alot from the heat(so why do I wanna move to Fl?)
Your looking nice and cool. I gotta go find me something like that here.

Okay I may have said this before, but you have fabulous hair.

Dresses in the summer are da best. I love them. They are like wearing pajamas all day. And did you see I finally got a tie dye dress too! ;)
(However, my flip flops are polka dotted.)

Adorable, and as you know we were on the receiving end of some of your works of art, and we were happy to start the season early :-) We didn't even wait for the snow to melt to try ours.

I used to wear tie die shirts in the 70s, and it was really cool to see my kids recently make their own a few months ago. If only I kept one or two just for the fun of it...

The Missus loves the colors. (I'm basically color blind, so what do I know?)

1st of all I love me some green tie dye!

YAY! It is tie dye season for me!

2nd.. My mom brought me back a similar style dress from her last trip to Fla, a nice bright rainbow number. I hugged her tight and told her it would definitely be my "summer of '09 wear".

3rd I love your lines in the green tie dye (I was folding/unfolding it in my head...:)

You know this remind me of the lovely tie dye t-shirt you made for us and was thinking: Bring the one you are wearing when you come and visit us in Norway and we can all roll around in the snow :-)

Gots to find me some tie-dyed flip-flops. They have to be here somewhere in Arizona.

I have seen some great tie dye around here. I intend to buy a couple of pieces when I start making money. I have never known how to do it myself.
