Just Out of Curiosity

Are there any men who are actually going to be swayed by this ad? I'm just not seeing a lot of you guys going out there and buying something called "Dove" even if it's dressed up in a dark grey bottle.

Having just come out of a totally crappy work environment though I have to say this cracked me up. I'm glad to say I am aware of no such horrors at my new place of employment.

And now, something completely different and not designed to sell anything. Just a video that cracks me up.

That 'Casual Fridays' ad was kinda borderline, but it was an absolute hoot. . .

I noticed an ongoing theme of ads directed toward guys this year; like 'it's OK to be a man' or, 'don't be a wuss' or some related theme. . .

But yeah. . . the soap? I don't think so much. . .

Oh. . . and that 'Green Police' ad? I'm not sure that the message there was quite the one they intended. . . Almost more creepy than funny. . .

I read a consumer reports article recommending that women consider buying the men's version of toiletries because they are virtually identical except for packaging and sometimes fragrance.

Soaps, oy. A pet peeve of mine. Except for certain areas, if you catch my drift, if your skin/hair isn't oily or dirty you do not need soap. All it does is strip out the oils that belong there, which you can then purchase a moisturizer/conditioner to try and replace.

Plain old Ivory for me. In a pinch, you can even brush your teeth with it, seriously. It tastes no worse than baking soda and does a great job. Don't swallow the suds.

Now, a quick show of hands: who would rather pass on anything like "casual Friday" in exchange for better wages and benefits ? Anyone?

Yeah, I thought so.

Happy Monday, Lime. Enjoy, and I mean this sincerely, your new workplace. :-)

Hey, I would love to have causual Fridays... if I worked at a men's championship bodybuilder gym.

There did seem to be a disturbing trend towards commercials featuring not-overly-attractive men in tighty whities. I can recall at least three.

I have to admit, I watched a lot of the commercials during the football game. I have no idea who won, but I saw a lot of hilarious commercials!

Oh god, can you imagine having to go to work in your skivvies? NOOOO!

What the... !! Dove for men?! it's an oxymoron. Nope. Not for all the tea in China, Buddy!

I can't wait 'till casual Friday.

I'm laughing my a** off. I needed that. Thanks Lime!

My hubby uses whatever soap I buy him. Ha! Maybe I'll make him use Dove now. ;)

Did you see the commercial about the clothing drive at work? A Bud for every item of clothing donated? That one cracked me up!

Those kazoos kinda make me feel violent.

That casual Friday ad is similar to a recurring nightmare I have, except I'm the one in my skivvies (or worse) and everyone else is dressed.

There were some funny ads, but there did seem to be a guy bashing theme happening, the Dove soap ad notwithstanding.

Oh, and for the record? No, I won't be buying any "Dove for Men"

(my verify word - panteas or "panty ass" which pretty much describes my thoughts on Dove for Men".)

I can assure you that my generic soap and water husband would be all, "Why did you buy me body wash?!" if I were to bring that Dove product home to him.

I only liked the Career Builders commercial this year, and I saw it days before the Super Bowl, so it's borderling Super Bowl ad in my book. Thought a lot of the ads this year were "Me man, Me can do anything. You woman. You apparently can't carry your own lip balm." Blech.

Every high end company from Clinique to Dior has a "male" line. All packaged in virile grey packages and all exactly the same ingredients as the woman's line.

Does it work? It seems so. Go figure.

My favorite commercial was the one with Betty White...:-)

I agree with g-man... I loved the one with Betty White. I also agree with Suldog... yikes so many guys in whitie tighties! The only guy I really want to see in whitie tighties is the one I like stripping them off of.

I don't know Lime, stick a babe in a bikini on the bottle and say in the commercial this product will have the ladies beating down your door and somebody will buy it, the name won't matter.

I don't get the whole casual fridays thing anyway. All the men wear beige chinos and polo-shirts... great.

Great ads, but I can't believe they actually create a market...ugh! All those flabby bodies...keep 'em covered, please.

Thanks for the laugh, Lime.
