Da Count in Friday 55-Leon

FRIDAY 55

He's quirky.
His gas gauge is broken.
His driver's side view mirror is taped together.
He's weirdly cross-wired.
He smells kinda funky.
His windshield wipers were tatters of rubber.
In spite of that he's got zip,
isn't a gas hog,
and his price was right.
He came to live with us.
We call him Leon.

DA COUNT

We still have Gracie the Bondo Queen and Jezebel the truck but they are both living on borrowed time.  We don't know which one will finally give up the ghost first but it's been a concern.  Friends were getting rid of their Impala, which needs a little TLC but is far younger than Gracie or Jezebel and should be reliable for a while longer than they will be.  I like that he has some crazy personality...seems fitting for this family, no?  I like that he's a very comfy ride.  I love that he gets good mileage.  He just needed a great name.  Calypso decided he was Leon.  I think it fits.

How fun! I've only had a couple of cars with names. My favorite was Scooby Doo! Nice 55!

Fun. But I have to ask. How do you he's a "he"? Maybe that's Leona... Just sayin.

I do love Impalas! They're great (terrible) for those of us with lead feet and dreams of being race car drivers on the highway. My first Impala was a 1965. Oh, I think I'll need to write about that car some day.
I recently borrowed a 1995 Impala and it was a pleasure to drive! Happy day 'and driving to you and to Leon the Imp'!

Great 55! Hubs and I now share one due to environmental reasons. It's easier to do in a city with only one child -- harder when public transportation is complicated and with more children.

I have never named a car. You have a very fun family, Lime.

Leon, eh?

Because he's yer 'mane' car?

You know, back when we bought the Cavalier that Jen drives now, it was occurring to me - that was the first car I ever owned, that had a trunk. Before that, it was all hatchbacks and minivans (or full-size vans, as the case may be. . .)

Yeah, he looks like a Leon alright! And he sounds like quite a good ride. :)

Heh, heh. Leon, huh?

One of the best cars I ever had was a complete s***box that my sister gave me. Yeah, it was worth that much. It had been condemned by a reliable mechanic. "Don't spend any money on this car," he said.

Ran fine. I got three years out of it. Of course, the trunk had a stash of every fluid imaginable. It leaked all of them. Still, no problems as long as you checked and kept everything topped off.

My only worry was that someone would hit me. Any damage at all would total it. Yeah, here's your $50. Go get a new car. Right. Only downside of a reliable beater.

Cricket said...

p.s. - My old beater never did die, btw. I just became more solvent and bought something else.

Leon couldn't find a better family with which to live (unless of course, you're a hamster) ;)

I saw a car in the Northridge Farmer's market. It had a straw cover for its roof!

Leon looks brand new! :)

I've never given a vehicle a name, although I'm overdue to christen my new (old) rowboat with a name.

Nice 55, Lime-lady!

Leon The Impala. Now, see, the way my mind works, I would have gone with Vlad. But, Leon is nice.

Craig said...

Suldog - You-um genius!

You are funny to name your cars.

My hubby being a car dealer, and me changing up my ride about once a month, I cannot let myself get attached to a Leon, Larry or Lulabelle. :) poor Jannie.

Leon totally fits. May he ferry you to and fro in safety.

My count will be up later than normal due to a late outing last night.

Kissing up to G-man with an automotive 55? Why didn't I think of that. Awesome, Lime.

I'm still trying to figure out how you're going to tie dye Leon.

If you can't do it in real life, maybe Adobe Photoshop?

I like the 55, but the label truly cracked me up!

An automotive 55 is something not everyone can do! Sounds like a great addition to the family.
