Before the costume...
I'm not entirely sure whether the jack-o-lantern or I had fatter cheeks but at least we are both smiling.
After the costume...
My Nana sewed my costume. I think I wore it every year for the next three years. Halloween in Pennsylvania can be either comfortably warmish or freezing cold so it's always a good idea to have a costume you can wear a snowsuit under...or hide an extra huge stash of candy in. This one fits the bill either way.

Looked at store-bought costumes the other day and the prices blew me away. My wife had made all theirs through the years but we needed one ASAP for a school project and thought about just buying the thing.

I'm loving the linoleum, too. Another blogger, I forget who, did a post about her old kitchen that reminded me of the linoleum "rug" we used to have: black and red, with speckles and spatters of white. It hid the dirt beautifully, although you could give your toe a mean stub on its edge.
I'd have to ask my parents to be sure, but I don't think I ever did Hallowe'en or trick-or-treat until I was 5. Before that, we lived on campus at U. Maryland where my Dad was teaching. I'm not sure where I would have gone to do that.
I think that also accounts for my bookish nature and my closeness to my middle sister. What else was there to do and who else could I play with?
Crazy, but that first photo looks a lot like me when I was 3! I hear you on the snowsuit under the costume. We've had a string of good weather ones the last few years. I'm waiting for the blizzard...
Terrific costume! Michigan Halloweens can be the same way - I've seen my share of snowy ones.

We've had various and sundry clown costumes, of various and sundry sizes, stashed in our attic for years.
What Eric said about Halloween in Michigan; especially Up North where I grew up. Not uncommon at all for me to be T-or-T-ing in the snow. . .
And gosh, you wuz such a QT. . .
As I may have mentioned, MY WIFE has Frolicphobia, which is an unnatural fear of clowns. I do believe, however, that she would find you adorable, clown get-up or not.

I had a hand me down clown costume that I had to wear for a few years, which really stinks considering I'm terrified of clowns. I'll send my mom the psychologist's bill. ;)

Michelle I love that clown costume. I was a clown for Halloween one year and loved it. For some reason, the idea that someone sewed a special costume for me made me feel GREAT!
