Slice of Lime(lette)-Where Does the Time Go?

When did it happen that Diana went from being a baby sleeping in her crib (notice the groovy tie dyes?)...

To being a young woman independent and confident enough (ok, so she's ALWAYS been that) to drive halfway across the country with a friend (I just wasn't up to that level of expression until she was at college).
In a few days I will no longer be able to say I am the mother of three teenagers since Diana will be 20. It's shocking, I say.  Shocking!

I have no idea where all the time has gone on my two either. Recently found a picture of my son the day after we brought him home from the hospital as a baby and it hit me hard.

You know, I seem to recall a time in my own childhood when days dragged on forever and I wanted to be an adult.

Well, shoot; I'VE only got two teenagers. . . But I've also got two more yet to come. . . ;)

That first one turning 20, tho, kinda sneaks up on you.

(And, not to play 'can you top this', but we're a year-and-a-half from 1F turning 30; yeesh)

And hey - that looks like Chicago (specifically, the formerly-known-as-Sears Tower)

They really do grow up fast, don't they?

My nephew, who (it seems) is just a kid, recently welcomed a daughter into the world.

He's a Marine, married to a nice girl (also a Marine) and stationed in Okinawa, but I could swear he was just a teenager last year - it WAS last year, wasn't it? (No, he's 22)

I'm sure it will sneak up on me, too, but right now, I'm kind of hoping for a little growth - specifically, now that my younger is out of diapers, I'm looking forward to the day when I will no longer have any responsibility for his excretions at all. Yay.

Also, the day when neither child will feel free to walk into the bathroom and begin a conversation when I am... er... occupied myself. That would be nice, too.

The open door policy doesn't go that far anymore.

I have known you so long now that even I am shocked....
Howwwww does this happen so fast?

PS I am still working on letting the 14 y.o. LR cross the street without me...
...we live ona rural highway, ok! People drive like idiots and maniacs out there...

I know I've missed out on a number of joys by not having children, but one of the advantages is that not only do you not have to consider them entering adulthood, you also don't have to even consider the possibility that you're not an adolescent yourself! I revel in being the oldest teenager on the planet!

Was she in Chi-town? That looks like the Sears (Willis) Tower. I've never been to the observatory up there. If it was a clear day, you could see as far as my town--Bolingbrook. Did she see me? I was wearing a brown coat and waving.

The times it hits me, is when I'm working with someone who turns out to be the same age as one of my kids.

Your kids may be getting old, but you haven't changed. ;-)

She survived her childhood! Congratulations on doing a great job!

That IS weird, especially since you're only 24!

Well done, Mom. Letting your kids grow up and hie out for their own adventures is the greatest gift any parent can give. Your example, as ever, heartens me.

It just flies by in a terrifying way.

OK, here's the plan. From now on we count nineteen, tenteen, eleventeen, twelveteen... wait -- it kind of breaks down after that. It gives you a few more years to adjust though.
