Friday 55-Unsettled

FRIDAY 55

 I feel like...

I have a pebble in my shoe.

One bra strap is twisted and the other keeps slipping off my shoulder.

My underwear is creeping up on me.

My socks are sagging around my ankles.

My bangs keep falling into my eyes.

My glasses keep sliding down my nose.

I am uneasy,

restless,

unsettled.

First off woman, fling those undies and bra to the curb!! (But if you can recommend some undies that don't end up in a wedgie, please let me know. I've been looking for years for some.)

All kidding aside, this is a great poem that spells out that edgy unsettled unbalanced feeling.

xoxo

I'm feeling a little like that today too AND my hair has gone frizzy. I hate that.

Except for the uneasy, restless, and unsettled, it's a perfect description of me.

Know the feeling--and wait til you jam the zipper on your jeans and/or purse/coat, whatever...you've nailed a larger, more intangible lack of fit and comfort with all those very real small frustrations. Nicely imagined 55.

There's nothing I could say...

except, if you lived in my town, we'd have tea at Barista, lunch at Bluehour and drinks after work at Little Bird, at which point you'd be giggling so hysterically that you wouldn't CARE about all that stuff.

My girlfriends know how to make one of ours feel better about those kinds of days...

each little out of place thing can be so bothersome - add them all up and ...
you described it perfectly

I know that feeling! Sounds like a typical day when I was first sporting those training bras! Great 55!

I know those days. And what is it about bra straps that do that? Great connecting with you on days like these.

Oooh yes- good catch ! edgy is a good way to describe this week. Thanks.

Times like that suck. Hold on, this too will pass.

Hm. Gotcha. Obviously, I don't have the bra problem, but my nose is pouring like a little kid's, and this friggin' Mac is bouncing me beachballs. Grrr.

Nice 55, though. And I wish you an improved mood soon.

I'm not the hugest fan of St. Augustine, but one of his sayings is worth remembering, I think:

Our souls are restless until they rest in Thee.

I try to keep that in mind. Some days I even do.

Great vivid descriptions. Put the reader in your piece's shoes.

Yep. And tired, to boot.

Falling bra straps, creeping underwear and sagging socks just make me IRRITABLE!!!!!!!! And I'm pretty settled on that.

My advice to you, is to start drinking heavily.
And you have to listen to him. He's pre-med.

"My underwear is creeping up on me" ... better than having a creep in your underwear, I should think.

A very quietly, very edgy piece.

I just have to feel that you're going to come out the other side of this phase of life with something golden--a proper payoff for all the ebbs and flows and scritches and scratches that have been scrabbling at your wellbeing this last year. Damn.
