Slice of Lime-She Cleans Up Ok

So back to the wedding from this weekend...but before that you may recall HomeGirl from my office.  She was recently engaged.  She has told me she wants me at her wedding but I have to wear a dress, heels, and makeup.  Here I am in my natural and preferred state.  Tie dye, denim, birkenstocks.  I am comfortable, what needs to be covered is covered, and I am clean.

For special occasions I do clean up though.  In my opinion, this is quite a sufficient presentation for a wedding.  I showered, put on a dress and jewelry, did my hair, and wore heels.  No makeup though.  I don't own it.  Pfft.

Here's a close-up of the hairdo.  Yes, I do it myself.  The woman behind me in the buffet line asked.  When I told her I do my own hair she told me she hated me. So nice to meet you too, now eff off, beyotch.  Oh sorry, guess that was over the top.  Fear not, I kept my thoughts to myself.  I merely arched a single eyebrow and gave a withering gaze.  She reconsidered her words.  Lord have mercy though...those greys really do have a wild mind of their own don't they?

And just to prove to my coworker....yes, I do own some heels that I pull out on occasion.  But don't expect me to wear stilettos unless you provide training wheels with them.

If you find those stilettos with training wheels, let me know. We would make a fortune...

I wore a dress for the first time this century last month. Maybe I should blog it!

You's one hot lime!!

And the grey - yeah, it just creeps up on you and colonize your head.

Tres elegante, ma cherie!

(But you know, the tie-dye and denim is just fine w/me. . .) ;)

My daughters love to do each other up in French braids. . .

Heh, heh. You look great in both photos. My darling dear has a similar, if perhaps less tie-dyed, fashion ethic. She owns a couple of pairs of shoes with heels. Still, there was one wedding we attended where she grabbed shoes as we left: hotel, changing when we got there &c. &c.

As we dressed, she realized she had brough two left ones. They were similar though, so she jammed one on as best she could. No one noticed. At the reception, she borrowed the flats my mom had changed out of. No one noticed that either.

There's a lesson in there somewhere.

Love, you look great even if you're wearing no clothes at all.

Not that I'd know, of course. I just imagine that you would.

Not that I actually imagine it.

I think I'm digging myself a hole here. I'll leave now.

You look great! And your hair is amazing. It is one thing to do such an intricate hair style on someone else, but to do it on your own head without being able to see everything is amazing. I'm sure that woman meant it as a compliment. I am jealous of your skills too. I am happy with myself if I can put my hair in a decent braid. HA!

Holy mother jeebus: is your blog going to let me post a comment? This is my third time this week of trying...so, not to overstate my frustration, but I'm giddy here. Anyhow, I've read over your last five posts or so and want to leave comments on all of them, but for some reason on your blog--and your very special blog only--I cannot load the comments. What I want to say is that I'm nutso happy that Calypso has a diagnosis that might lead to change and improvement...and that you're beautiful...but I can't believe you don't have a tie-dyed dress???

OMG the grey hairs do whatever the heck they want and for me, they are so distracting I pull em out. My hair lady told me, dont pull the greys, and I said, well, ok, but I cannot stand these ones around my face they are distracting!
So I just pull out the ones that keep sneaking into my field of vision....I will soon be grey in the back with none in the front at this rate...
Ya clean up nicely missy, but between you and me, I prefer the other look! :)

Love the dress and the hairstyle. The woman definitely meant "I hate you" as an envious compliment.
