Winter finally showed up in a dusting of snow for our neck of the woods. I took Boom-boom for a walk to see what I could find.
It truly was a dusting that merely iced the rock wall in the back yard.
Just a tiny cup of snow here.
Holly leaves serving a spoonful of snow.
This looked like a flamenco dancer celebrating a bit of winter brightness.
A grape vine as a sled run for the fairies?
This one didn't really get the pine and the snow the way I hoped but I got some mildly groovy bokeh. I'm learning.
Snowy fireworks perhaps.
A fragile, dried out hydrangea bearing the last few flakes before the sun melted them away.
For those curious about my Duluth-style hats, I just mean a knitted one with bits that cover the ears. This is the one I got at Christmas and finally had cause to wear.

This you cal winter? Pfft.
So. . . 'Duluth-style' means 'like a frog'?
My kids love those hats, altho I've never heard 'em called 'Duluth-style'. Which, you know, is practically like a Yooper. . .
We are still bone-dry, snow-wise. I'm waitin', tho. . .
Thanks for the other photos. Nice. . . real nice. . .
They are a bit 'slow' in Duh-Luth?
While trying to sleep one day recently I had to turn on the air conditioner. It hit 80 degrees around 2:00pm that day.
Snow about the same here today, but I can't compete with the hat! Love it!
nice hat lime....and wish we would get a dusting of snow...
...a sled run for the fairies... AWESOME!
I'm dreading the lake effect snow this weekend, but your photos are lovely.
Crazy hat. I love it!
Hey, the pics were great, but I especially liked the line about "Holly leaves serving a spoonful of snow." Tasty wordsmithing!
That's some good stuff you got there with Boom Boom. :-)
This winter is so weird. We are just now (today) getting our first real snowfall of the year. Up until today we have barely had an inch all year. I think we are getting 1-2 inches today.
Love the hat!
Great pics! Beautiful!
I love the hydrangea shot. Snow pictures fascinate me too. :)
Lovely photos. Not much snow here this winter either. Love that sled run for fairies.
jazz, not really but it seems to be about all we're going to get this season
craig, the duluth designation is a bit of a joke between a couple of duluth bloggers and myself
gman, not the folks i know!
beach bum, that ain't right at all!
jinksy, i've seen your crochet projects. i bet you could whip up a fun one
brian, it's been a pitiful winter hasn't it?
margaret, glad you liked it
bijoux, thanks!
craver, thanks for the kind words from one who gets some gorgeous shots of his own
kat, it's just been a pathetic excuse for a winter. nice for the heating bills though!
just me, thanks. i was pleased with that one as well
nara, thanks for dropping by. glad you enjoyed.
We're supposed to get a little snow tonight, too.
Ha! Love the frog hat!
Great snow shots too.
i wouldn't be walking too deep into the woods with that hat...next thing you know you'll be mounted on the roof of some hunter's four wheel...
Love the hat. We've had sun and rain since, but we had our snow last month, for a whole WEEK!
As a Pac NW gal, that is more than enough for a year as far as I am concerned.
Your pics are way prettier than mine though, even with less snow.
OMG. What a hat! Does Miss Piggy know that you're wearing Kermit on your head?
