It's the End of the World as I Know It...

....and the beginning of a new one as I start my new job on Friday 12/21/12.  In the evening I intend to give nod to the Mayans by celebrating my first day with a bit of chocolate.  Of course, since it's the solstice there may also be a bonfire and wild dancing.

Good thing with all this apocalyptic madness and the celebrating to go on that I have until after the new year to recover and go back to work for my second day.  Yeah, that still cracks me up but I ain't complaining....I feel fine.

Good luck with your new job!! It is exciting though that you work one day then have that nice break!! I'm counting on the world being here come Saturday; I would hate for it to end on my 55th birthday (12/21).

Apparently, we have to do this every 10-12 years or so, whether we need it or not. I'm still feeling relieved that civilization didn't collapse over the Y2K madness. I remember going back to work on Jan 2nd, 2000 (or was it the 3rd?), and seeing all the generators for sale on the company bulletin board. . .

Jen and I were in the process of trying to sell our house, and as the new millennium rang in, we were painting the living room walls. I sure was glad that the lights stayed on. . .

The, uh, wild solsticial dancing - are you gonna be naked? Can I come?

;)

How bizarre, starting a new job tomorrow and being off until the new year.

Hope we all survive for the bonfires and wild dancing.

I'm keeping in near constant contact with my Facebook friends in Australia. They have already tripped over into the 21st and currently report all is well. But the keyword is "currently."

Yay!!! Congratulations on the new job! Woot woot!
Apparently after your first day you've already worked up quite a few vacation days. ;)

Love the newspaper. Hehe!

"Michael Stipe reports 'I feel fine.'" That's very funny.

Congratulations on starting the new job and getting a holiday right away! And I celebrate pretty much every day with chocolate.

Congrats on the new job- and also, getting time off immediately, good deal!

I still chuckle at the reference I came across (don't remember where, maybe you wrote it even, oops)... but basically said, "Duh. The world doesn't *end* then, just flip the hourglass over"... I keep having this visual of a huuuge hourglass, and a bunch of Mayan's turning it over :)

I hope the new job and the new year bring you lots of fodder for your blog! Good luck tomorrow!

How appropriate to include chocolate in your nod to the Mayans since the Mayans discovered chocolate.

Best of luck to you, Lime. Just as insurance, I'll nibble on some chocolate for you, too. ;)

Hope the new job's going well Michelle. I don't think the world's going to end for a very long time. We probably won't be around when it does - Dave

I think I would come out of retirement if I had a job for one day on and 2 weeks off.
