Da Count-It's the little things...

DA COUNT

A door held open
Not sitting at the table until I sit first
Not taking a bite of food until I have done so
Carrying bags
Thank yous for even the smallest favor
Offers of help around the house
Cleaning up after oneself

This week I am counting the hundred small courtesies my friend from Bolivia blessed me with during his 2 week visit. There was so much that was truly lovely about the visit, but the unforced gentlemanly behavior that has always been part of his demeanor was extremely refreshing. Thank you, hermanito...you have no idea what that meant to me.

I've got nuthin' for Friday 55 right now but check back...the muse may strike...

Otherwise, have a great weekend! And whether you agree with current policies or not, be sure to thank a veteran for the freedoms you enjoy. Thank you to all who have served with honor.

Too bad all the men in your life aren't such gentlemans!

What I love about India is, that,I never had to carry anything, not even my backpack....this must not be done!
There is always a gentleman waiting to carry your bags or purchases!

I dont have a 55 yet either...ack!

Courtesy is a lost art in our society. I am glad that you had a good week with your friend!

You have a nice weekend too.

I'm glad you enjoyed and appreciated your friends courtesy. In this day and age too many people fail to think of others before themselves. Your friend appears to one of the exceptions.

Sigh! Small courtesies make my day as well, from friends and family and from strangers. A door held open, an offer of help to carry the stroller down the steps... little things that are not hard to give. Last week, I took the subway, and witnessed how at least 20 young and able-bodied people ignored an older lady needing help with her shopping cart. I was carrying two bags as well, but still the two of us managed to get all of our stuff down the stairs. Her thank you was the highlight of my day.

My daughter brought home a nice young gentleman last week-end. It was refreshing to hear thank you and yes mam.

And a Happy Vet's Day to you! If in my travels today I happen to come across one, I think a BIG HUG is in order :)
