HNT- More Mad Skillz

So I can curl my tongue, arch a single eyebrow, and dangle a spoon from my nose. Here's a skill that actually has some application. I can squat flat-footed and damn near wrap my knees around my ears. I've been painting my house this week but way back when I graduated from high school I worked on a paint crew. I was ALWAYS assigned the low trim work because the boss thought my method of squatting and skittering along the floor like a crab was as hilarious as it was efficient. He also bestowed upon me the nickname of 'Sacagewea' for the way I squatted while I painted.

I'm a lot older than I was back then but I can still get up and down out of that squat. I can't skitter though, time does take its toll I suppose. Oh, and as one who was once paid to paint may I just say taping is for wimps. Cut in properly and there is no need to tape when you hand paint. Save it for when you are spraying. So I guess you could say I am demonstrating 2 skills here, the squat and cutting in on the trim work.

Happy HNT!

*Tommy Gunn has a really beautiful HNT dedicated to Melody Censor and me this week. Go check it out.

Um, Lime? It looks pink to me too!
I am impressed that you can squat like that what with your back injury and all that...
I'm also impressed that you can paint without tape, Why, I had to confer with the Idiot a few times when I painted Little Ritas room, and I still did kindof a messy job, and had to touch up with q-tips! Argh!!
I'm more of a Jackson Pollackish painter! :D

HHNT Lime!!!! Im not up yet, Im waiting for Andy, and he'd better hustle! LOL

Well I don't know about painting but I'm sure we could find some use for that skill if we put our heads together. I paid homage to you on my HNT tonight. Thanks Michelle and HHNT.

I think you missed a spot on the wall there. I guess it's too late to do anything about it now. :)

Very supple. And think of the money you save through not needing yoga classes. A DIY-competent woman is very attractive. HHNT.

Wow, I'm impressed. There is no way I could get in to this position. Although I can see it's advantages in the bedroom. Oooh, stop me...

Happy HNT sweetie ;)

I've only ever seen one other person squat quite like that: Spider-Man! Okay, Lime, you're my NEW favorite-est hero! I'm going to start calling you Spider-Chelle! We're in the process of painting our main floor. Can we enlist you to help? It's only something like a 6 or 7 hour drive....

Happy HNT!

Such suppleness...my God! HHNT. I hate the pink by the way. Maybe you should try puce or yellow or something.

You have me beat. While I can curl my tongue, raise one eyebrow, and do the squat as well as you (the yoga pose is called malasana, in Sanskrit), I can't do the spoon thing or the trim work.

You kick my ass in those areas.

Incidentally, where's the HN part of the HNT? I'm totally nude on my blog today. ;)

I've always been able to squat like that too. They used to make fun of me in High School about it, but I can still do it now. :) Happy HNT!

where I grew up, that position is called the "Newry squat" - apparently named after the position the mill workers assumed on smoke breaks while chewing the fat...

lovely photo, actually...

If I tried squatting like that, I'd rip something. And I'm not necessarily referring to my pants, either.

You must have a steady hand to paint the edges. You would make a good surgeon.

36 commentors so far?? Is that a record? I do believe you should post squatting pictures more often. It seems popular.

Wow! That's a very handy skill indeed. I actually love painting, but hate the sanding and other preparations beforehand.

We've still got the teens to look forward to... although the DQ is making a bit of an appearance now :(

Good deep squat - certainly deeper than I can go.
