I am independent politically. I don't believe either major party has the best interest of the country at heart. It's all about obtaining and maintaining power. I have voted in every general election since I was 18 but I have steadfastly refused to declare a party because of my cynicism. Pennsylvania has a closed primary so one must declare a party in order to vote in the primary. Since we have ours so late the national party candidates are always long since settled upon by the time we hold the primary. For the first time in my life there's actually a race so I went and declared myself a Democrat. Admittedly, it wasn't because I am convinced one of the candidates is great. It's because I am so vehemently opposed to Hillary that I wanted a chance to vote against her (and, dear God, end the possibility of many more months of watching ads where she flounces around as a toddler in Scranton talking about how she is one of us because she used to use an outhouse at her grandpa's.) I was hoping my state would kick her out of the race. Alas, Pennsylvania disappointed me and she's not going to be conceding any time soon.

Personally I think a lot of republicans are voting democrat to try and mess things up. I heard the system in PA was messed up and denying some of those republican voters the chance to vote democrat because they did not process the party change. Probably a very small percentage but of course the evening news glommed onto it. I am kind of thinking the republicans would like to face Clinton more than Obama.
Personally I think no matter which of the three candidates win WE ALL LOSE!!! I am not impressed.
Time to start a write in campaign, or not. I just want it all over.

That's about what it boils down to eh? It's not who you want it's who you don't. The lesser of evils. I think that stinks but what other choice to you have? None that I can figure out anyway.

I agree with your thinking of all the candidates, Hillary seems to be the deepest in the pockets of PACs and that is never a good thing.
I SO do not want "Bilary" for president. I don't know what I'll do IF it ever comes to that. I can't even stand the mention of her name...Yes, I too voted the same as you. One can only hope. Either way, we're screwed! Just don't want it to be by her...pfffft!

I usually vote Democratic, but I don't like either of the candidates, so I will vote for McCain.
I vote in another country's elections, but I feel the same. So far, I have only voted for the lesser evil, but I think that's far better than not voting at all.

She conned the people of New York into electing her. She'll try to con everybody into somehow linking her with their particular region, no matter how low she has to go to do so. And, you know what the worst part of it is? There are apparently enough idiots out there who will buy it to make it work for her.
(Disclaimer: I am not an Obama fan - nor a McCain fan, either. I'm a Libertarian, so I have little to no stake in the presidential race :-) )

It is difficult to turn on the news anymore because I can not handle hearing and seeing Hillary. It just chaps my hide. Grrrr
I don't usually talk politics, but I can at least say that in a country this size, I sure wish we could find a candidate that I could be excited about. I remember when I was a kid, that the President of the USA was supposed to be such an honorable and noble position. "Way to go, Johnny! This boy will be president some day." Now, it all seems like such a big joke. That's really a shame.
I'm glad you voted, even if it didn't turn out the way you hoped. I'm all about the voting - after all, my major in college was "Justice, Morality, and Constitutional Democracy." Seriously.
I did my part, Lime baby. But really, Hillary's win here in PA was a forgone conclusion. It only mattered by how much she won.

See, now, you're the right kind citizen: civic despite being disenchanted. My cynicism kept me from ever voting until the whole Gore fiasco election. The results there weren't heartening. But I voted again.
However, I don't actually believe in the process, nor do I find representation in either party, so I never feel quite certain I'll vote again.
And, yea, I get all the arguments for voting, but they don't reach my ears very well.
All day after the Pennsylvania primary I did my best to avoid hearing Hillary speak on television. During lunch while in the breakroom I even had to stick my fingers in my ears and hum "Row, Row, your boat" so I couldn't hear her speak. My big boss came in and thought I'd lost my mind.

So am I. I think both parties are bad, but in different ways. And although I used to be against term limits, now I'm thinking they may be a necessary evil.
I too have voted every election since 18. People need to vote. I can't stand Hillary either, but I'm not looking forward to Obama vs McCain. I'll probably go Third Party again. I'll just have to see what they're offering this time around.
