Slice of Lime-Fashion for Forty

As promised, today is the big reveal for the article of clothing one of my friends tells me every 40 year old (and older) woman needs as an essential part of her wardrobe. She tells me she knew I was lacking this item so she wanted to be the one to bestow it upon me for my birthday.

I have hydraulic underpants that suck in all the loose jiggly bits that aren't supposed to be loose and jiggly. I have bras with the tensile strength of steel in order to harness the loose and jiggly bits that should be just a little jiggly but not leave me in danger of whiplash or black eyes in the event I want to dance in my kitchen. I live in either bare feet or comfortable shoes (I LOVE my Birkenstocks)

My mother took me shopping and got me a new grown up, professional looking outfit complete with fall coat. Mona sent me 3 beautiful salwar kameezes. You know I have an extensive collection of tie dye and I can wear a sarong. You may evem remember the infamous "Lime dress."

Whatever could I still need?

A muumuu!

Yes, the is the gift that made me howl with laughter and made the teenagers howl with horror right before they headed for the hills. Yes, I put it on for the party. Check those groovy socks, with Birkenstocks no less. Hey, gimme a break. It's been cold. Frostbitten toes ain't pretty.

You have a good sense of humor, Lime! I wouldn't have been caught dead putting that on!

Are you sure it's not a Moomoo?
Yeah.....HOTT!!!

Mona said...

:D The image of you being 'hit' in the kitchen dance is too funny for words!

That may be loose but looks pretty comfortable to be in.

ps> does muumuu means 'tent'?

Galen, momos are a Chinese dish

I can't tell you how relieved I am it's NOT a Red Hat and Purple Boa... The muumuu is FAR more tasteful. Even with the birks and striped socks!
:-)

OK, you have me laughing. Perfect now you know how to control you limelets. Just threaten to show up places with it on. You do look styling however.

LOL! You're awesome! The hubby should like that one - has snaps doesn't it? My mom has had those forever - she calls them housecoats. And I'm with you on the barefoot call. I always get mad when it gets cold enough that I have to start wearing socks and slippers. But if I had socks like that, I wouldn't mind so much.

LMAO!!! That was a good one for whoever sent it however, you aren't ready for it yet beautiful woman.

Now all you need is an Hawaiian holiday to feel really at home in it.

Never mind Birkenstocks...have you tried Uggs? I live in them year round, and leggings and, if need be, legwarmers. Hah! Comfort, it's all about comfort.

holy moses on a pogo stick! that's awesome!!! my first knee-jerk reaction was, "uh-unh she didn't!?!" just the laugh i needed this morning!

Aloha!

Ah yes, I'm digging the Birken-socks! People criticize incessantly 'round here when I do socks and sandals, but I feel comfortable in them and believe that comfy, breathing feet trumps so-called fashion dictators.

One rule of fashion that most people are unaware of is that when you wear loud, striped socks like that, it entitles you temporary carte blanche for your current ensemble.

Ohmygosh, that was too much fashion talk for a dude, wasn't it? I better change the subject before I start talking window dressings or something; what the heck is wrong with me?!! Cute muʻumuʻu.

(scratch, hack, spit) How 'bout dem Bears, eh?

rainbow socks, muumuu, birkenstocks?

you've got the look

Logophile said...

I am barefoot at the moment, but only because we have a fire going. It is definitely sock weather around here.
Ok, but the muumuu?
Oh dear.
You have very funny, slightly cruel friends. I like them, in fact, I like them way better than I like the muumuu!

Oh, Lord, the socks! It looks as though you've been crushing a vat full of Froot Loops with your feet.

I am NOT denigrating your choice of fashion, though. If anybody denigrated mine, I'd punch them. Therefore, to each his (or her) own.

But, Lord! Those socks!

I'd be sleeping on the floor for a week if I gave one of those to Molly. For the name alone. . .

Well I like your socks, I am one for colorful socks too! Hysterical gift!! I haven't gotten a MooMoo yet, how could I forget this one important part of being 40!! And they look sooooo comfortable.

Hey, if it wasn't for 'Society' and it's supression of personal expression, I'd wear the same thing everyday!

I think someone misread the invitation as "Lime's 80th Birthday!"

EEK.

I will say, if anyone can pull it off, it's you, O Panache-ful Wonder.

Good thing Blackwell is dead or you'd make the list.

OMG! That is freaking hilarious! I think it's a "michelle" thing to embarrass people. My hubby has been howling because I am "overdressed" for the hospital and wearing a "shawl" ... it's a "wrap" I tell him and I've seen celebrities wear them!

Moosekahl said...

You are totally rockin' it!

I'm happy to say that 6 years into my '40's, I do not own a muumuu!
