Friday 55 & Da Count-Rise and Shine

FRIDAY 55

The light flicks on.
The sheets fly back.
She sings,
"Get outta bed, you sleepy head.
It's time to get up.
It's time to get.
It's time to get up in the morning."
He's still drooling on his pillow
when her fingers find his armpits, ribs, and feet
to tickle him conscious.
He rises giggling.

DA COUNT

It's no secret I'm not a morning person. If there is any doubt check the picture here. I'm not surly, I'm just not coherent for a long time. If I had my way I wouldn't get out of bed until at least 8 am. I wouldn't be required to function until 10 am. Wrangling kids at the butt crack of dawn is not my favorite thing in life....especially considering none of my kids are morning people either. Waking the girls gets a similar reaction to that of beating a hornet's nest with a stick, regardless of the method I choose. This is not great incentive for me to get out of bed myself to start my mornings with that horror. Isaac on the other hand can be tickled into alertness and although he is begging for a few more minutes he usually is not snarling at me. I get to hear a sleepy giggle instead. For this I am very grateful every morning.*

*Ok, who among you thought I'd be counting a freezer full of venison? Well, I'm counting that too, but I figured by now you were sick of hearing about it.

I feel with you. My child thinks that sleeping in is a waste of valuable time, which makes me wonder if he has any genes from me at all, especially on Sunday mornings :)

Oh yes, I understand totally. I am definitely not human until I've had my coffee...and even then, if it's before 10, I'm usually only semi-human. ;)

I so hear you. Luckily I do not have to deal with anyone accept myself. I drag myself out of bed at 6:00 or 6:30 in the morning and take until 8:00 am just easing into the morning. Then there is a mad rush to get ready and into work and the day is finally started. Still no coffee but other than that not to bad of a start to the day.

You just had to mention the venison. I mean after all it was hunting week and all. I would have disappointed if you had not.

I think its the same story everywhere' Except I had to wake my son by pulling out his blanket On cold days & sprinkling water on warm ones! ;)

My girls get out of bed just fine but Ty doesn't. He will get up and act like he is going to get dressed until you leave the room then he will lie back down. We have learned to wake him 30 minutes earlier so that he thinks he is getting one over on us. Me I get up just fine but in the winter I have a hard time staying up because I get cold easy and want to snuggle under my covers.

Have a good weekend!

I so am a morning person. And youre one of the lucky ones who gets to bask in my sunshine every day. By the time I pop onto your blog its only 7 am here!

But I have to admit Mr Ratburn gets up at 5 am everyday and I get 2 more hours to be warm and cozy. A lot of times I am awake by 6 but I sleep outside ya know and I just dont wanna get outa the blankets and walk into the house....brrrrr!
At least it doesnt snow here.

Yeah yeah I am happy you got your dead deer. Now, if I get over there to visit you ever, I am claiming veg on you.

I dont wake LR up. I just let her lie there and listen to her radio show and rarely I will have to tell her that she's running out of time.

Have a great weekend LIME!

That's the stuff memories are made of.

Last week, it was I who slept in. My two youngest kids were the terrorists. But when I got up, they tried to keep me down. It turned into wrestlemania until the distinct percussion of skulls sounded, signaling the end of play-time, and the beginning of Mom's consoling.

Getting tickled awake, by you, would surely be a nice experience.

I'm very much a morning person, myself. Love the pre-dawn hours, when all is quiet and still, and I have a chance to group the day's thoughts and activities into a coherent whole.

Not so MY WIFE. Perhaps I'll try the tickling!

All it takes is one to make a day... I am so glad you have one.

As for me... hmm... I'm easily adaptable and pretty much an anytime person. Weird, I know.

Fortunately for me, everyone uses an alarm clock here! I don't think I'd have patience for trying to wake up anyone.

I'm up at 6 a.m every workday and when weekend comes I still wake at 6 a.m.! :(

Great 55.

I'm not a morning person either. Neither was my mom. Mornings were funny when I was growing up because my dad would be singing and happy and my mom and I would barely grunt as we passed each other in the hallway.
Now that is how it is in my house. :)

Boo! I'm not a morning person either! And I thought you'd be counting the venison to wrap up the week... but it's all good! :)

Yes I remember that smiling pic well. I've decided I'm not setting foot outside until the sun melts the frost off my windshield. I think I've scraped enough for one lifetime...

I don't own an alarm clock. So if anyone wake me up there better be a darned good reason for it and I can only think of two.

That curry looks so awesome I left a comment there as well.

I would not take kindly to being tickled awake. Other than that, I'm a perfect delight in the morning...

.. after a cup or two of coffee, that is. ;)

I am a morning person.. and the only one in my family (other than my mother) who is.

This is not nice, but I was glad when my son moved out so I wouldn't have to wake him up anymore... He was down right UGLY! I'm glad you get a giggle :)
