FRIDAY 55
An aneurysm,
heart damage,
pneumonia from aspirating vomit,
kidney shutdown,
gangrene in the feet,
three weeks in a coma,
a month in ICU,
bilateral amputation,
3 weeks in another hospital room,
2 weeks in a rehab center,
countless desperate prayers.
She wants legs and to go home.
Yesterday she was wheeled through her front door.
DA COUNT

DA COUNT
You may or may not recall me mentioning at the beginning of the year about a friend of mine who suffered a massive brain aneurysm on New Year's Day. For a long time she was not expected to live. It came to a point where the doctors were pretty sure she'd have significant brain damage even if she did. Any one of the things she went through could have killed her and the combination should have from the standpoint of medical expectation. She lived and emerged from the coma with her mind and personality intact even if her body no longer is. Yesterday she came home to her own house, which friends built a ramp into. She is a miracle, plain and simple...and I am given a bit of perspective.

Amazing, and such a wonderful miracle indeed--the kind that takes your breath away.

This tells me what all I have o be thankful for...
That is great news...miracles do happen.
Wow. What a miracle!
This is what took my husband at such a young age. I wonder if I am damned for thinking during reading your post "maybe it was a blessing he didn't have to deal with all this". But I have hopefulness that she handles her live with grace. I am torn..
Mona got it right :)
Wow; amazing story, Lime.
A miracle, for sure. And a bit of perspective, absolutely. . .
Thanks for this. . .
An awesome tale of courage and tenacity. I hope I am never challenged in a similar way.
P.S. The socks are fabulously trippy. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
Oh man, poor girl, so much for one person to handle.
I am glad she has a friend like you.
Sending my best thoughts.
As sad as it is, it is a miracle. Have a good weekend, Lime.
Wow! What a journey.
Powerful 55!
Wow thanks for sharing such an uplifting story on a Friday!!
have a wonderful weekend!
It's sad that she isn't whole but a miracle that she's here at all! Wonderful. :)
Amazing! Such a strong fighter! :) It's so good to hear she's home!
Every time I have a little bit of a bad day, I end up reading something like this and everything gets put back into perspective. Thanks, Lime. And God bless your friend. That is one hellish list.
We should all have friends like you Meesh...
Great 55..
Thanks for this little bit of inspiration...
Have a Wonderful Week-End!!
It will be a long slog back... but the fact she is home is a great count.
That's a heck of a lot for anyone to go through. I bet she was never so happy to come home in her life!!
Praise God for his tender mercies. May he give your friend the grace to rise above her circumstances. You're a good friend, Lime.
What an inspiring story. I'm so glad you still have your friend to know, love and enjoy. It makes my mini day-to-day dramas seem so insignificant.
this kind of stuff makes you count your blessings Lime...i had a similar experience about 18 months ago with a friends motorcycle accident...i had to wait a couple of days not knowing if she was alive or dead...since then, i think twice about trivialities.
Oh my, a mixed blessing sort of miracle. My thoughts are with her in her healing and recovery.
Poor baby, I'm glad she has you for a friend.
Blessings do come true! God bless your friend and her family...they remain in my prayers.
That's great news.
I had a roommate and a co-worker that had them. One never remembers anything and the other is partially paralyzed. My heart goes out to anyone who had one.
Miracle is right...
Oh, crikey. That breaks me in two.
