Slice of Lime-Trying to Follow Orders

Thank you all for the hilarious and lusty concussion stories involving Hugh Jackman and for the well wishes. They were fabulous.

I actually sustained my concussion last week but kind of pushed through the pain and fog figuring I had too much stuff to do to go down for the count. That was a bad idea and only made things worse. It would also account for some of the lack of emotional balance last week. Amazing how getting brained can screw up your mental stability, eh? So anyway, pushing on through all that turned out to be kinda stupid and I finally went to the doc a couple days ago. I think he found me a little bit amusing in my stupor. He ordered a CT scan and I go back tonight to see him again. In the meantime he told me to take it easy for a couple of weeks.

Yesterday I did nothing. I sat around in my robe unbathed until mid afternoon. I noticed the day before that naps helped. Yesterday I still felt pretty out of it by late afternoon even though I did nothing all day. The family was a little annoyed when I told them to warm up some left overs for dinner. I went to bed at 7:30pm because the surliness was working on my last nerve.

My head feels half decent in the morning but by about lunchtime it starts to hit me. So here's an old picture of what I am supposed to be doing. With all the birthday, graduation, incoming relative, party activity that is supposed to be happening I dunno how much of this is going to occur or not.

i liked this post, but i think you could have been more descriptive about your bath mid afternoon. like did you towel off immediately or do jumping jacks all naked and soaked? you know, for the reader

Better you take care of yourself now - just yourself! - then get worse later and be out of commission longer! And naps? Naps are a prize. I was thinking of taking one today before I was even fully awake and out of bed this morning!

Oh, I so understand your predicament. Molly is the one crucial, irreplaceable member of our household. I can go down for a couple days, and it'll barely be noticed. But, let Molly take to her bed for even half a day (which, thankfully, with her robust good health, rarely happens), and things just fall apart.

Get your rest, so's yer synapses can resume firing with their usual efficiency. Your family needs you well. . .

Yeah, I'm with Furious - although the jumping jacks, as interesting as they might be, are probably not a good idea until your head stops hurting.

The family needs to get a grip and take up the slack while you do the required snoozing. After all the taking care of them you've done over the years, it would be only fair that they wait on you hand and foot right now.

the sooner you look after yourself, the sooner you'll be our old self..

Boy sounds like my family.

Get a good rest... if possible, which is hard. Poor head!

But you havent said how you got this concussion! The world is dying to know.

You know I love that Klimtesque pic of you in that blankie! One of my all time faves, you look so much like one of Gustavs favorite muses.

Get lots of rest, Adele Bloch Bauer!

Oh my! That sounds pretty scary. I'm glad you are (and will continue to I hope) follow doctor's orders and take it easy. I know life is busy right now, but your health is first and foremost.
Now go lie down!

A liftgate noogie? Lime, do we have to make you start wearing a helmet?!

I wish I could help you get better. I'll tell you what. Today I will take a nap at my desk in your honor; how's that?

I hope you get some rest and actually take care of you at this hectic time!!! (I'd be saying this regardless of the concussion!)

HUGS!!!

Stop trying to be good to everyone and do it for you, and for us. Just lie there and don't move. Ask your unfeeling lot if they would prefer to have you in bed for a couple of days, or in a coma, or worse, make them realise, [by your not being brave] that head trauma is SERIOUS!

I love it when the doctor prescribes laying around a robe unbathed.

Get well soon.

You know someone is suppose to wake you up every two hours when you have a concussion to make sure you DO wake up! Hope everything turns out fine on the CT

I agree with Endangered Coffee. Except I prefer when the doctor prescribes laying around a bath unrobed... Say cheese!!

Unbathed until mid-afternoon counts as a really, really good day in our house.

Oh, honey. Do sleep and sleep.
